Argh! Need help dressing my ridiculous Mr Rush-shaped body for a wedding

Please ladies - I am a size 16 on top (even when three stone lighter, I am still a size 16 on top due to ridiculous boobs, huge back and swimmer shoulders - nice), and a 12/14 bottom half. Painting a lovely picture.
Anyway - I don't do dresses, because of above dimensions, and so tend to do wide leg trousers and a top, which is exactly what I planning for a wedding in two weeks, and have even found lovely shoes in Dune to wear with said off-white, Banana Republic trousers. Question is - does anyone have any ides for a lovely top that won't be unbearable on me? Am 5 7. Don't do sleeveless.

Thank you!

I don't want to sound all "Trinny and Susannah" but maybe a v neck or wrap style? In a colour or colours which you feel great in?

And completely unrelated but congrats on losing three stone - I think that's a super achievement!

minipie · 18/05/2011 21:17

I just typed a post suggesting V neck and wrap style, then lost it!

Bravissimo worth a look

fufulina · 18/05/2011 21:36

Thanks ladies - always a v-neck! And hadn't thought about bravissimo - will check it out.

Grin at 'Mr. Rush'

How about a Jumpsuit? or here?

fufulina · 19/05/2011 21:17

Thanks for the idea - genuinely would never have even thought of that. Will pop out tomorrow to FC to see if it makes me look like a truck in drag like most dresses seem to... Thanks again

ralph lauren beautiful but 'spensive and another

BikeRunSki · 19/05/2011 22:22

Bravissimo don't do clothes under that name any more. It is Pepperberry now.

Bumperlicioso · 19/05/2011 22:34

Sorry no advice but had to Grin at 'Mr Rush!'

I am one size bigger on the top than on the bottom, the same as you

I wear jersey dresses with lots of draping. Draping disguises the boobs, jersey means I can often buy to fit my bottom half and the top will stretch

I never buy shift dresses or anything satin or fitted. I don't do maxi either as I'm only 5'5" and my legs are good ( last thing to go on a womanWink) so it seems a shame to cover them up

phase 8 I know it's sold out and it's sleeveless. But the draping will emphasis your hips and balance out your top half

all saints

Update ladies - and thank you all for the advice. Although to be fair KristinaM, I tried on a million things today in satin and shift dresses - I ALWAYS do it and forget how shoddy I look!
But - have got two options - both potentially to wear as either a dress or with the trews:

Kimono-one or

Blue drapy hide my arms one

Hoping the links work. About to go and try on for DH. Thoughts ladies?

kimono dress - lovely if you have no boobs or hips. too high neck for boobs and will hang off them, making you look pg. fab colour

cape sleeve - good neckline for boobs, comes in underneath bust which is narrowest point of body for you i guess, drapes add softness. looks very short on model and as you are 5'7'' suspect it might be on you too. also lovely colour

fufulina · 23/05/2011 21:37

Kimono dress - yes! fabulous colour, loved the sleeves, but had got carried away, is going back tomorrow. Did make me look like a house.

Cape sleeve, DH loved it, was flattering on boobs and arms, and came about 2 inches above the knee. Will need a cami underneath at crossover to avoid boob/leg look. Worried I should go back to the drawing board and take that one back too - is it too short?? Would wear nude tights though and closed toe heels (silver).

Oh the stress - wedding is on Saturday. Although work in Covent Garden.

Thanks again Kristina - any more thoughts would be appreciated!

I really like the second one - blue dress. If you feel comfortable in it then go for it!

minipie · 24/05/2011 10:11

Second one is really nice. First is nice enough but a bit tent like/square.

You could glam up the second one with a silver belt (esp if you're having silver shoes?) And/or a fab pendant.

I think 2 inches above knee is fine, esp with good nude tights.

KristinaM · 25/05/2011 08:39

I agree. 2inches above knee is fine if you have good legs (as most apples or lollipops do) and you are not flashing boobs

Why would you wear trousers if you have good legs????
