It's nice?

DottyDot · 17/05/2011 13:26

that's lovely!

DuchessEm · 17/05/2011 13:42

It's a beautiful dress, but it depends on what type of wedding it is. I went to one wedding where a member of the Groom's family was wearing a full length dress and was whispered about non-stop by the other guests as 'trying to be one of the bridesmaids'!! Grin She wasn't at all, she just wanted to wear a lovely dress, but it was a little OTT for the type of wedding! Is it a very formal wedding or a more relaxed affair?

sahm3 · 17/05/2011 13:55

I too think it is lovely, but agree with above poster, it depends on the style of wedding. (Ive been to a wedding where the grooms sister looked more glam that the bridesmaids, and it did not go down well at all with the bride!!!)

QuackQuackBoing · 17/05/2011 14:10

I think it's lovely. It hadn't occured to me what DuchessEm said. Something to think about.

carriedababi · 17/05/2011 17:19

it's a church wedding followed by a hotel reception

what do you think?

I'm wearing a full length dress that is more formal than that to a summer wedding. I think it'll be fine though as it is a "posh" wedding.

I don't think yours is at all bridesmaidy. I doubt you'll be the only one in a maxi dress.

goodegg · 17/05/2011 18:31

I think maxi dresses are becoming more commonplace so you should prob be fine. Beautiful dress! Someone else posted in recently asking if it was appropriate for 'the school run' Grin

Gorgeous dress, especially if you pick out one of the darker colours for bag etc rather than a lighter (more 'bridal') colour.

whoneedssleepanyway · 18/05/2011 20:34

I went to wedding last summer and someone wore that dress and looked fab I had the short version on.... Only risk is whether anyone else will b wearing it, I went to the races last summer and saw ten people wearing it.

It's a lovely dress but overpriced for a used dress IMO. I'm sure it was about that price brand new as I nearly bought it last year.

QueenLaQueefer · 18/05/2011 22:44

Goodegg, I think it was the OP!

Carrie, you love the dress. Buy it. I insist.Grin

It will look fine.

QuackQuackSqueak · 19/05/2011 12:49

Lovely!

moragbellingham · 19/05/2011 13:28

You've wanted that dress for ages, so buy it!!!!!
It will look nice for a summer wedding and I imagine a few would be in maxis so you won't stand out (in a bad wayWink).

QueenLaQueefer · 19/05/2011 21:10

There you go, Carrie.

Two's a trend. (Or is it three?) MN demands you buy that dress.

Anyhow, enjoy it. I'm glad you've found a reason to.Smile

Saw it in RL today, it is absolutely beautiful. Overpriced, probably but beautiful. Dresses seem to be £££.... tried a maxi on in warehouse yesterday £120, and another cocktail dress in debenhams that was ok, nowt special £ 160. Shock

geordieminx · 19/05/2011 21:46

The other thing to bear in mind is, that providing you don't spill red wine on it, or fall arse over tit and rip it to shreds then you could probably sell it on ebay for more or less what you paid for it, although I do think seller is chancing her arm a bit, general rule of thumb is half rrp for second hand.

carriedababi · 19/05/2011 23:22

ok due to advice on here of ffs carrie you've liked that for ages just buy it

i have Grin

you will not have to see another threa from me now about that dress

expect Grin
if i wear a little shrug with it, should i go for light brown dark brown or black, only reason i say black is i already have 1
