Jeans to replace Topshop Marthas?

Topshop seem to have discontinued their Martha jeans. Can anyone suggest a decent substitute? I liked the way they were slim but not actually skinny (pear shaped woman alert).

I am a huge fan of Martha's too. They are coming back in September apparently - and thankfully minus the weird flap pockets on the rear. We had a thread last week about it and one MNer is friends with Top Shop denim designer so we started a Bring Back Marthas campaign!

The best I have found are Boden (yep, sorry) straightleg jeans. They are a close fit but not skinny. They are also a good quality denim. They do have some stretch in them but feel more substantial than cheaper denim.

Alternatively, try Citizens of Humanity Ava stretch jeans. I bought my very first pair last week in TK Maxx for £60 (they are currently on Net A Porter at £170) and they are really great. Despite being a low-rise, they are cut higher on the back so no "builders bum" issues. Again the quality of the denim is far superior to cheaper jeans. I have never bought "premium" denim before but, Marthas aside, I won't be going back to cheaper versions.

Oh thanks, this is very useful! I am not sure I'm ready to accept my inner Boden wearer yet, but if the Marthas are coming back I can probably hang on. Excellent news . I checked out the thread you mentioned and it was most reassuring. I have a TK Maxx in town so will check out the Avas too if they have them. I hate jeans shopping so much!

Me too - with a passion! I know what you mean about the Boden issue. The key for me is to buy items from there which don't scream "I am a Boden fan" ie no hotchpotch or keraazy patterns. Their jeans are fab though.

Yep, Boden straightlegs are fab, as are Gap "Real Straight", both slim but not skinny
