Tinted moisturiser help please?

I'm going away for the weekend, very rarely wear make up, in fact I think everything in my make up bag is probably years old!

I thought I would get a tinted moisturiser but have no idea what to look for!

Are they 1 colour does all kind of thing or are there different shades?

I'm white, but not pale skin, I tan quite easily so always have a slighly (uneven) tanned look about me.

Also thought I might treat myself to a new eyeshadow (blue eyes)
and lipstick as well. Any hints, something light? Lipgloss rather than lipstick? And I need a new mascara too!

Would just like to put some make on in about 5 minutes and feel good about myself.

1 last question does the tinted moisturiser go over or in place of your normal moisturiser?

Dont have loads of money, maybe around 30pounds (or less) for everything and I have quite a large Boots near by.

Thank you in advance

I love tinted moisturiser and have worn it for year but now I am 48 my skin has brown patches and is more uneven. I bought Bobbi Brown Skin illuminator last week you apply it with a brush it is very good. Excellent tinted moisturisers are Clarins, Bobbi Brown, Laura Mercier (it has more coverage) and some people swear by Benefit which gives you a sun kissed glow. You can use it in place of moisturiser and most of them are factor 15. My advice is to go to a department store and chat to the the make up reps as you have £30 I would try them out and invest your money wisely - it is well worth it.

Thank you, I might just take a quick trip to Debanhams instead of boots then.

The Bobbi Brown one sounds good, I'm 47 and as i said have quite uneven skin tone Angry

My usual "routine" is moisturiser, mascara and perfume!

After trying so many, I have settled on Nivea's natural tinted moisturiser. It evens out my skin tone a treat and feelsso light to wear. Tesco's had a 2-4-1 offer a few weeks ago, not sure if it's still on??

I love the stuff!!

I love both Bobbi Brown and Nivea's tinted moisturisers. Bobbi Brown has the extra oomph factor though, it makes my skin glow, and gives a nude look, as if I have no make-up on. I use the Nivea tinted moisturiser on days when I have nothing much on (saunter to the park, visit to mum etc)

If you only have £30 to spend, I'd get the Nivea one for now and save up for the Bobbi Brown one (it really is worth it). Nivea has just one shade but BB has to be matched to your skin tone.

Mascara - I usually wear Clinique but have recently discovered Maybelline's mascara and it's fab!

Can't help with eyeshadow as I never wear the buggers. As for lipstick, I only have two shades - one plummy one for day and a redder one for night. I have heard that Revlon ones are very nice, and I think Boots had an offer on them a week or two ago (can't be sure)

Have fun. I love shopping for make-up Smile

I like Dior Hydralife. It's not very moisturising (I've got dry skin and wear a moisturiser underneath), but it gives me a nice luminous look. I use shade 1, my skin tone sounds like yours. I think it's about £25 so may blow your budget.

If you go for a cheaper tinted moisturiser, mascara-wise, I like Boots High Definition, it's in a dark green tube. Pricey at £12 but great, lasts ages and goes on very nicely, plenty of pigment but no clumps.

I have No7 tinted moisturiser (£12 I think) its lovely and light and has sun cream stuff in it too. Personally I put it on before I go out and moisturise after I have taken it off.
That with naturals collection brown mascara (£1.99) not the best in the world but doesn't clump or cost an arm and a leg, plus a tinted lip balm (from lush or super drug I think). It gives a nice natural look.Smile
If I want a bit of colour then I use a coloured eye liner or one of the little 4/5 colour eye shadows from super drug normaly.

For me I don't see the point in paying out lots if I'm not going to wear it a lot (unless its lipstick cus it dont stay on other wise hence why I go for a more natural coloured tintWink)

NotShortImFunSized · 17/05/2011 11:43

I have the No7 tinted one too and it's really good. Also have a No7 mascara, extreme curls or something that I really love. Both are about £12 each. At the moment in Boots the makeup is 3 for 2 so then you could get yourself a lipgloss/lipstick free.

Personally I prefer lipgloss as it's easier to just stick on and less likely to look wrong!

I am useless at make up but these one's are straight forward enough even for me Grin

Well I ended up getting No7 Triple Protection (medium) Smile.

I've put it on and so far it looks quite good, hopefully it will last!

I cant believe how blue my eyes look though Shock

Also got a (shaped like a) lipstick but more of a gloss by Poppy King and No7 but dont think it will stay on long though Sad but you never know!

All in all I'm quite happy (for now Grin )
