Which ones are good?

I need smooth skin for summer!

Cheap or expensive.

Thank you

I just scrubbed paint off DD with sea salt in olive oil and my hAnds and her skin feel lovely now.

amberleaf · 17/05/2011 00:19

Funny you should say that! I have in the past made up my own from sea salt and grapeseed oil!

Its a bit 'rough' but it does feel nice after because of the oil.

Think ive just talked myself out of buying some scrub! Thanks for the reminder!

Aveda in the pale beige tub is good (tropical something), Absolute Organics salt scrub with lemon, mandarin and lime is amazing (if you like citrus), australian organics is also v good and not expensive. Alternatively, make your own wish sugar and sweet almond oil, cheap and effective!

Mama Mio "O Mega" body polish. Fabulous. It is very gentle because the granular element is quite small but absolutely does the job and more - very moisturising too.

Aworryingtrend · 17/05/2011 11:03

I have tried loads and the one I buy again and again is the Laboratoires Garnier bright yellow one ina tube-<a class="break-all" href="http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl=www.lifepluspharmacy.com/images/Garnier_Body_Tonic_Sugar_Scrub-1.jpg&imgrefurl=www.lifepluspharmacy.com/productinfo/Garnier_Body_Tonic_Sugar_Scrub&usg=__wY02xgBAleR5gHcKAz5DJJd9-J4=&h=300&w=300&sz=12&hl=en&start=0&zoom=1&tbnid=ZAsY6SSEkp7L-M:&tbnh=149&tbnw=148&ei=w0fSTcXTPIX0-gaW3JjSCg&prev=/search%3Fq%3Dgarnier%2Bsugar%2Bscrub%26hl%3Den%26rlz%3D1T4ADFA_enGB396GB396%26biw%3D1259%26bih%3D758%26tbm%3Disch&itbs=1&iact=rc&dur=312&page=1&ndsp=28&ved=1t:429,r:0,s:0&tx=84&ty=79" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">this one

I prefer this one to the more expensive Clinique and others I've tried.

peanutsmuggler · 17/05/2011 11:19

I'm using Soap and Glory Flake Away at the moment, very happy with it.

Emo76 · 17/05/2011 11:22

Soap and Glory "scrub of your life" is in my experience excellent

Clinique scrub (blue one, cant recall name) also good

I scrub before shower to get best result!

superv1xen · 17/05/2011 11:22

garnier bodytonic in the yellow tube! tis brill.

mousymouse · 17/05/2011 11:23

st ives, have the apricot one. lovely.

Evizza · 17/05/2011 11:37

I bought the Champneys Spa Treatments Citrus Blush Body Scrub from Boots recently and LOVE it !! I also got a free gift with it, a Champneys mini set in a bag...very nice and its £9.00 so not too bad Smile

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 17/05/2011 11:40

I use olive oil salt and honey, but I do find that Clinique's Sparkle Skin does make your skin feel deliciously soft... usually my cheapskate side wins out :-)

doggiesayswoof · 17/05/2011 12:24

Another vote for Mama Mio. I have sensitive skin and it's really gentle but still effective.

amberleaf · 17/05/2011 13:56

Thanks all.

I tried a Clinique one years ago, it was blue and sort of menthol smelling, that was good.

Might check out the Garnier yellow one.

Plenty to be getting on with here thanks!

The blue and minty smelling Clinique - that's the sparkle skin It tingles.

chipstick10 · 17/05/2011 14:57

I have tried expensive ones and cheap ones, but there is nothing to beat boots botanics sugar body scrub. It is fantastic and so moisturising.

FreeButtonBee · 17/05/2011 17:30

The best one ever is REN Guerande Salt Exfoliating Body Balm. Amazing, particularly if used on dry skin first and then washed off. I love it so so much. I keep flirting with other ones as it's £20 a tub but they always let me down. Currently using Soap and Glory lime one but it's v sweet and the granuals are too rough. Tempted to 'spill' it.

LadyClariceCannockMonty · 17/05/2011 17:32

Body Shop ones are quite nice and come in a wide range of scents so you don't get bored. I like the olive and papaya ones.

NestaVipers · 17/05/2011 17:36

Soap&Glory "Sugar Crush" is excellent and lasts for ages. I'm normally not a Soap&Glory fan as I find the scent overly perfumed, but this smells gorgeous- kind of like cola bottles. I bought it last year to use before applying tan and still have some left.

AutumnWitch · 17/05/2011 19:22

I mostly use the scrub gloves £1 from Primark and whatever shower gel is to hand. Definitely smoother afterwards.

Risking a hijack here - are these scrubs really worth the extra?

amberleaf · 17/05/2011 19:39

Hijack away, im interested to know too.

OP posts:
mousymouse · 17/05/2011 20:31

I use both, maybe overkill?

brighthair · 17/05/2011 21:11

I get mine from here. Amazing scents, scrubby but not scratchy and foam when you use them. I haven't used another scrub since I found them :-)

usually homemade with SUGAR rather than salt since sugar also has a biological exfoliating quality as well if I can remember correctly.

I make my own by blitzing dried lavender or verbena with sugar then adding a mix of oils, delicious smell!

I would not pay for clarins or clinique prices and don't want the cheaper supermarket chemical ones.

Exfoliating gloves are a must have of course!

The best exfoliation though is with traditional olive oils soap & moroccan or japanese gloves (which funny enough are exactly the same )

here

Basically soak in warm bath then rub skin with soap, rinse then rub skin with glove ( with medium pressure) and see dead skin fall off literally!
Not only that but friction allows for more blood to circulate and so also good to improve cellulite & skin texture.

celticlassie · 18/05/2011 09:13

I just used Soap and Glory Flake Away and have a lovely glow now. Highlights my orange skin fake tan.

BornToFolk · 18/05/2011 09:17

I like Soap and Glory's Scrub of Your Life but the scent is very strong.

I also really rate Lush's Buffy, especially on the backs of my arms.
