Hold-ups-better than tights..?

Tried them once about 15 years ago on my fat legs - they just seemed to rolldown a lot. Does anyone wear hold ups successfully..?!? Are they for steel thighed ladies or can wobbly softy thighs wear them too?!?

They are better than tights for:
looking sexy when on
not having a line where the waistband is
not having a droopy gusset
only needing to throw away one if you get a ladder

But worse than tights for:
variety available
chilly crotch
looking sexy once you've taken them off (red marks where they have been holding up)

I never had much luck with holdups. (bad memories of a Christmas party when they didn't) (didn't hold up I mean) Grin

I think if they are new and tight, and you are only wearing them for a shortish while then they are ok. Otherwise risk of falling down or red marks as Trillian says.

I hate the way hold ups dig into my thigh fat and create a bulge above the band. Unsightly!

I go for stockings with suspenders personally

  • no droppy gusset
  • don't fall down (as much, they very occassionally ping out)
  • if you get a ladder (which always happens to me, and always just on one leg), just change
  • no red band around leg where it's been/accidentally pulling out leg hairs
