what do we think of white jeans?

I've been mulling over buying white jeans to look a bit more summery but still be warm in the chilly Scottish summers. I bought these today and they fit perfectly but I'm just not sure if the are all wrong!? I'm a size 8 and tall if that helps?

Nice! Especially if tall and slim. I'm contemplating some myself (being tall-ish and slim-ish).

Just check you can't see your knickers (should be OK if denim is reasonably thick).

The ones in the OP would look great on you, and tend to agree that a voluminous, summery top would look better than something fitted. And yes, should be a strong, thick denim.

yes they can look fab if styled the right way. As said before if you are young and slim then go for it!

They're fabulous, why do people hate them? odd? PLUS you can wear them whatever size and shape, it depends on the cut you choose NOT the colour imo.

Anyone can wear a well cut pair of white jeans if they get a pair that's right for them.

I am NOT a size 8, but have a lovely pair of white jeans, I wear with Navy blazer or navy/white striped T and always feel great. Can't wear them in the winter though, some reason it just feels wrong.

Off to dig mine out ....

PS topsi my mum is 63, wears skinny cigarette shape white jeans with a blazer & flats and looks AMAZING imo. Why does the OP have to be young?

I've got those Gap ones in the OP. They are lovely thick soft denim. The fit is amazing, but they do tend to get a bit baggy on the bum after a day of wear. But then I think all Gap jeans do.

Thanks everyone, I think the general feeling is they should be fine. I'm still nervous though! Have kept the labels on just incase and planning to try on again at home with a few different tops.

I'm a nanny and since they are white would never wear to work! Which is another thing I like as I like to have a seperate weekend wardrobe of nicer things but often end up wearing the same or similar things for work and days off.

(And I'm a young looking 28 for those who mentioned age, got id'd when buying alcohol last year )

Size 8 and tall? You will look fab in white jeans, I always think the people who don't like white jeans are the people who can't get away with white jeans. (However I firmly believe you shouldn't wear maxi dresses unless you are either very slim or very curvy - height doesn't come into it)

My mother looks fab in white jeans and she is 66.

Madam your mum sounds tres chic! I guess I had in mind the leather trouser look ie mutton dressed as lamb but agree that if done with taste could look good!

Yes to the OP - you'd look fab in them. Not for me though (size 10/12, pear shaped and short)

Love white jeans - staple in this weather and summer. I have 3 pairs of them and don't live in Essex!! If you can pull them off go for it!

I have had a rethink about this topic (I probably need a hobby) and have revised my opinion to agree with madammecholet, everyone can wear white jeans it just depends on the cut - let's face it if you have a wide bum you have a wide bum (not saying madammecholet has a wide bum!!) neither blue denim or white denim are going to disguise this fact it's the cut of the jeans that's important.

Well lovely Martin Lewis has informed me via mse email that I can get 25% of GAP with a magazine cupon so I am going to return the jeans and buy again with the voucher, making them £10 cheaper and s&b appropved and will also add this skirt which looks far nicer on than in that pic but I couldn't justify as I also bought 3 other things at the same time that i'll wear more. Now I can have it all!

I got those white jeans with the 25% off - they are gorgeous far nicer than the boden ones which were strangely thin fabric and really wierd shape.
I am not a size 8 and they are very flattering .I also got 2 really nice tops and the young man serving me held them for me while I ran round the corner and bought a Grazia
