Does it matter whereabouts on your head you wear a fascinator?

Left side? Right side? Front? Back? Or anything goes?

I've just bought one to wear to a wedding in a couple of weeks and despite having spent half an hour experimenting, I still can't figure out what the hell to do with it.

Many thanks,

Slightly fashion-impaired Imps

I don't think there are hard and fast rules as such. Do you have a parting? Wear it the way it looks best on you.

Depends on the hat, but usually slightly off centre is best with fascinators. You don't want to do a Tara Palmer Tomkinson at the Royal Wedding and have the thing practically covering your whole face.

What type is it? Is it normal thing of just feathers? If so its normally on the side i think.

Hmmm, how to describe.... it's quite dainty - one twirly bit of that stiff hessian type material and quite a few small feathers-on-wires sticking out here and there. It's no Beatrice, that's for sure.

I did think that it looked best on the side, quite far back on the head (if you see what I mean), but most people I've seen where them more forward.

I'll just stick it on and see where it lands on the day I think.

Thanks for your replies!

The hessian type material is sinamay Grin

The best and 'proper' place to wear them is on one side (called over the eye- but not literally like Beatrice did) and as far back as your ear.

Knew years in the hat trade would come in useful Wink
