Shapewear recommendation

Hi all. I am a very petite curvy size 8 and I have some clingy dresses that I don't wear because they show my bumps a bit too much (muffin top and saddle bags specifically). In the past I have found shapewear to be uncomfortable once you start walking or sit down, i.e. the high waist will roll down and create more bumps than you started with, the botton of the skirt (if it's a shapewear dress) won't stay put, or if it's shorts, they'll dig too much into wobbly knees and make it too obvious you're wearing one.

So I was just thinking that there's so many in the market now things might have moved on a bit. The one I have at the moment is from Trinny and Susannah and the waist never stays put.

Any ideas anyone?

Spanx higher power - no cut in at thigh and stay put under bra too.

Not a specific brand but worth checking out TK Maxx for support/shapewear. I bought some great Maiden Form knickers from there last year which were brilliant and less than a fiver a pair.

Are you big busted? I like Gok Wan's range of shape wear and find his all in ones good as they can't roll anywear and give my boobs a good shape too. Some of them even come close to looking sexy in a 1950's slut sort of way Blush

The one you've linked to would make my saddle bags even worse though. I was thinking maybe something like this

I wear Spanx. They are fantastic. Thanx, Spanx.

The new flexees (sp?) 'Onesie' is supposed to be the best thing on the market. Have no idea where I read it, but there was rave review. I have flexees waist cincher and is fab

scotsgirl23 · 12/05/2011 20:50

Worn one like that before (when i was significantly less booby, sob) - very efficient BUT they do keep your thighs rather close together.....so if your thighs are anything less than svelte you will need to wear tights underneath or, well, discomfort may be an issue!

madammecholet · 13/05/2011 10:09

Shhhhhh.....whispers I have a flexee's Onesie.....don't EVER let your partner see you in it, BUT it truly is amazing. Lightweight, seamfree and makes you 2 sizes smaller....no lumps, bumps, or overspill ANYWHERE, plus you wear your own bra so you are fully supported....

Bliss....

here

I have and M and S control half slip (i have saddle bag issues as well...) and find it really good for smoothing purposes.

GarnishWithALemonTwist · 13/05/2011 10:54

madammecholet that one looks perfect except I'm a little confused as the black one is different to the skin one. Which one is it? Does it reach the knees?

OP posts:
madammecholet · 13/05/2011 11:00

garnishwithalemontwist I have the one with legs, they come to a couple of inches above the knee.....perfecto Smile Its great for under wrap dresses or clingy things, gives you the smoothest lines ever.

GarnishWithALemonTwist · 13/05/2011 11:39

well madammecholet, I think we have found me a surplus flesh holding device...Wink

Ooh,you win the slimmest silloutte in town then, Enjoy!

moragbellingham · 13/05/2011 13:45

I'm tempted to get that mmecholet after buying a frightening tight dress (it was supposed to beWink honest). My dress is longish, so do you think it would show the seam at the knees?

I dipped my toe in the shapewear waters with this but it's too short and the seams are visible through dresses.

madammecholet · 13/05/2011 13:50

The seams look thick on that Next one moragbellingham, the Flexees one is incredibly thin, infact when you get it you think how the hell is that going to keep anything at bay, but believe me, its marvellous. I'm 5'9, it comes to a couple of inches above my knee and no lines...I wore it with a tight vivienne westwood dress recently and it was supreme.........so comfy too!

moragbellingham · 13/05/2011 13:52

Garnish - try ASOS - they have the beige one with legs, or Figleaves.

moragbellingham · 13/05/2011 13:59

ASOSLOOK for 20% off too.

GarnishWithALemonTwist · 13/05/2011 14:54

You people are just wonderful!

OP posts:
GarnishWithALemonTwist · 13/05/2011 16:14

Sorry for being thick but is this the one I'm after? www.asos.com/Flexees/Flexees-Weightless-Power-Onesie/Prod/pgeproduct.aspx?iid=566846&cid=8913&sh=0&pge=0&pgesize=20&sort=-1&clr=Body+Beige

It is £38 in ASOS but £32 in John Lewis, but the JL one when I select 'beige' the picture changes to the one without legs.

moragbellingham · 13/05/2011 20:09

I was confused too but bought that ASOS one you linked to just in case. It came to £30.40 with the 20% off.

moragbellingham · 20/05/2011 11:25

Mmecholet - the onsie is flipping ugly but works miracles - many thanks, I can now wear my lovely dress for special occasion dinner!!!
