Black trouser hunt - please help

I need a couple of new pairs of black trousers for work. I will not wear them anywhere else though. I have always struggled with getting them right. I am a 14-16, very average in height. I am a bit long in the body. My figure is a definite hourglass. I have a flattish stomach, and thin waist, but wider hips and top thighs. I find the top of my legs the hardest, and usually end up with very baggy waists. Anyone found a good pair? Not too expensive, as they often get wrecked at work. TIA

Got some nice ones in Zara last week, £19.99, slim fit, not too low waisted. Would link but can't find them online.

I have a similar shape except minus the flat stomach (jealous emoticon needed) but I find buying something which is very wide legged is generally quite good - they disguise how broad my hips are really well. Normal trousers if they fit my thighs are too big on the the waist, and if they fit my waist are straining at the thighs. Such a sexy look!

Will try to find some links.

Jealous emoticon: Envy

Really unhelpful, I know! Smile

Ooh no don't be jealous. None of it is nearly as good as it sounds and the thighs are positively gargantuan. I have the same trouble Scotsgirl. I think a lot of trousers are for more "appley" shaped women these days. You know with thinner legs and more around the waist. Boot cut seem to make my thigh area look worse. I had some potential success with some straight legged ones. Also need a thicker fabric, and would prefer some pocketage or seaming to disguise the vast expanse of bum. I need to have a personal tailor.

I would try Sainsburys and Tesco. If you go in the evening, it's great because it's really quiet and you can try loads on to your heart's content. Sainsbos is best because they usually have 2/3 assistants on the changing room and will go change sizes etc. Mind you ours is quite large.

(nods at the gargantuin thighs) oh yes, I have those! Bootlegs look horrendous on me as a result - if they fit my waist then they are pulling around the thigh - classy camel toe look - which combined with the narrower knee is a bit like drawing an arrow with a flashing sign saying "look, huge thighs here"

And if they fit my thighs then they are so loose around the waist that they fall forward when I'm standing up (making stomach look huge) or gape at the back when I sit down showing the world my underwear!
Sound familiar!?!

I'm on the hunt for some work trousers myself so will post any I find!

It sounds identical! A trouser soulmate! I hate the bulgy bit at the front when they are too big, making you look half pregnant. The lower part of my legs is quite slim, so wider legged even hide the thinner bits.

Have you been to GAP to look at the Premium Black Trouser Collection? HERE

goinnowhere · 12/05/2011 19:37

I tried some on a while ago as I thought they sounded promising. But they were a bad fit. Tbh, I've never had any joy in Gap. Thanks though.

You all must know it's impossible to find the trousers I need!
