MNers of Liverpool - do you do this with your hair?

Wear it in curlers all day before going out on Saturday night?

Read it here - very funny column by the way - but is it true? Is it a Liverpool thing?

As a recent convert to heated rollers I do wear mine most of the day if I'm going out/to work but I would never venture out the door in them Shock

Hum well, I am on the Wirral so not Liverpool, but close, and I don't do this but only because I'm too old, fat and haggard to go out on the tiles. I certainly would do it. I see lots of young, beautiful women doing this and feel pangs of jealousy Envy.

I used to go to school with bendy rollers in when I was in my youth....

Liverpool girls like to think they are very fashion forward. Sometimes they get it bang-on and look amazing but lots of the time, they just look like fashion victims.

I've always thought Liverpool is its own little fashion enclave - with its own bizarre trends that don't bear any relation to what the rest of the country is doing. It was really weird moving from here to London and seeing people out on a Saturday night without a spray tan, bouffed hair and giant platform heels.

Pixiepops · 11/05/2011 20:44

On a typical Saturday I reckon I normally see about 10 roller haired women out & about in Liverpool, it's all very strange!

WhatsWrongWithYou · 11/05/2011 20:46

I feel like a freak when I go back there. Actually, I felt like a freak when I lived there because I didn't have the money/parental backing to cough up for all the latest 'must-haves.'
Think it's probably even worse there now though - at least my teens were during the pre-Wag years, and spray tans/talons hadn't yet hit the streets.

Bloody hell, that is amazing!

Yes unfortunatly that is true but the latest is that its also spreading to the older generation too, i saw 2 40 something nurses also wearing the liverpool staple, at least theyve now banned the pyjamas and are a rare site nowadays, asda and tesco finally banned people from wearing them into the stores so its put a limit on the number you see.

i read a fact the other day that said there are more taning salons, hair salons and gyms per mile in liverpool than anywhere else in the country.

i hate going out in liverpool now, if you havent got huge hair, 3 inches of make up and look the colour of a baked bean you are guaranteed to be looked down on!

Are they still called scallies?
