and, on a scale of one to ten, with one being Queen Elizabeth and ten being Katie Price, how orange did you look?

not yet, having one end of may, hope I will not turn out orange :)

ggirl · 10/05/2011 15:46

lol have never had the nerve to satnd in front of some young lass and have one

ChinnityRhino · 10/05/2011 15:47

had it done about 4 times

loved it, not orange at all
just nicely tanned

cant wait to save up to do it again

cumbria81 · 10/05/2011 15:48

are you in the nude? do you get streaks? Does it look natural?

I am not a bad colour naturally but I think I look so much better when I am browner. I am just scared of looking like a tangerine and not being able to wash it off!

have had it done lots.never been orange!just healthy glow.

She3po · 10/05/2011 15:52

I think it looks quite natural, not streaky as they dry you before you put your clothes on, I think most beauticians would ask you wear a paper thong at the least but I always wear my big time of the month knickers.

cheesesarnie · 10/05/2011 16:08

you can wear whatever you are comfortable with.strapless bikini, big pants, thong, paper pants....tutuGrin

I've had it done a few times and it can be a bit hit and miss in terms of colour and good coverage. If your worried about being too dark or orange then just tell them that and they will spary you lighter as a first attempt.

Your not nude - they give you paper knickers or you can wear your own. You are topless though, well unless you want to wear a bra but that would be pretty pointless tbh.

You will get the best coverage if you fully exfoliate your body before the tan otherwise you do risk patches. It will only last a few days and as it fades you may get patches in some areas but nothing massively noticable.

Bear in mind that they have to develop for 8 hours and during that time YES you will look like a giant orange! Best thing is to have it done in the evening, leave it on overnight and then have a shower in the morning.

Well at the risk of being flamed/isolated/banished my 14 year old dd2 has spray tans for her dance competitions (not Pageant, actual dancing, trying to justify it to myself and MN in general!!)

She has never turned orange or steaky. We get offered a choice of shades and we go for Spanish. It just looks like a natural tan. I think if we went for the darker shades offered it might look a bit orange.
We go to our local Salon and I stay with DD2. She has to undress and put on a pair of black paper pants (which she saves for some reason, she has dozens at home). The whole thing takes about 15 mins then another 5 mins bweofre she can dress again.

I'll get my coat for being a v bad mother Grin

ggirl · 10/05/2011 16:17

wot no bra
i would have massive white patches on my tummy

NoahFence · 10/05/2011 16:18

It's v humiliating

summer111 · 10/05/2011 17:13

I've had a few and have never had any problems with the colour. On your scale, I went for a colour shade of probably a three - Katie being a ten!!! (I'm naturally pale skinned)... just let them know what colour you are hoping for.
Follow sweetheart's practical tips and you'll be fine Grin

fedupandfifty · 10/05/2011 19:07

Fab, and makes you look loads thinner. Go for it!

mrsravelstein · 10/05/2011 19:14

i had it done when i got married 2 years ago, they gave me some sort of colour chart so i could actually choose a colour from QE to KP... it worked out well, i picked a very low scale one so just looked a bit glowing rather than 2-weeks-in-barbados. though my legs did go considerably darker than the rest of me, beware.

I had a Fake Bake spray tan last summer, it was lovely and natural looking. I loved it, it was a lovely golden healthy looking colour that lasted about a week. I am planning one for a few weeks time before I go on holiday in June.
