What does it mean to look "cheap"?

It means you look tarty, or like a cheap prostitute.

Showing unnecessary amounts of flesh.

Flesh, too much "fake" - i.e if you had fake nails, fake eyelashes, fake tan and hair extensions all at once, you might look cheap (depending on the style of each I guess)...and style no-nos like low cut top with short skirt (always have one or the other, never both)...etc.

Ironically, it can sometimes cost quite a lot to look "cheap" - high maintenance (think Jordan/Katie Price)...

agree , like a cheap prostitute. Outfits not well put together, ill-fitting, attention seeking ie bright colours or skimpy top/skirt esp in chilly weather, too much makeup with bright lipstick.

It means tarty.

Not just cheap clothes/accessories/etc but a particular way of putting them together.

I agree SEA, it's not something I would expect to hear anyone under 50 say.

Well what about her/her outfit did you find cheap? I think she looked lovely and can't imagine what looked cheap about her.

Everything I (and approx50% of MNers and the rest of the population) said on the zillions of threads on the day.
Too tight, too revealing, too orange.........Looked like she was getting married herself in one of those tacky resorts.

I didn't bother reading the zillions of threads about her so I have no idea about that. I haven't heard anything about her looking cheap in the papers, in fact they were all very complimentary.

I don't think she looked cheap either - and I'm over 50. I thought she looked gorgeous. A bit too orange maybe, but the dress looked lovely.
