After years if dithering I've finally done it! Bought a Bayswater in oak Grin

So how should I protect my precious? Should I use the collinol spray they recommend? Or maybe a leather spray instead?

I'm very very excited Blush

Envy am too tight sensible to buy one - give it a hug from me [sad cow emoticon]

rubyslippers · 09/05/2011 21:28

It's black

I love it

Had it for a year ... Mulberry are investment bags IMO

Astley · 09/05/2011 21:30

My bro works in a dept store so I got it with a discount. I'm far too stingy to have paid full price which is why I've loved from afar for years...

Will give it a nice gentle hug for you though Grin

Can I come round and stroke it.

I'm not Envy or anything.

Astley · 09/05/2011 21:36

Yes when it comes on wednesday!

I just can't wait.

It was a hard choice with the colour though, I liked chocolate but oak just seemed the one for me.

Well done, it's a great investment! I have a dark blue cracked metallic leather one (pressie from my DH) and I adore it! I think I would quite like another in oak...

chipstick10 · 09/05/2011 21:57

I have the printed oak, its slightly more structured and dont have to baby it quite so much. I love it to bits.

Astley · 09/05/2011 22:00

And you use the gel on it? I'm determined to keep it lovely. But then I said I would keep my iPad perfect and it had DS's grubby prints all over it!

Tbh i dont put it in the dustbag when im not using it as its not in direct sunlight. I always put the stuffing back in it to keep its shape and i sprayed it three times when i first got it and ocassionally i nourish it with creme.

slowshow · 10/05/2011 09:37

Use Collonil spray, definitely. It's fairly noxious stuff so make sure you're outside! While it's still tacky, get a duster and buff the leather until it shines. Oak is VERY prone to watermarks so you want to make sure it's fully waterproofed. Then I'd repeat every 6 months or so.

I bought my black Baywater in 2008 (in the days when it was still £495, I see it's risen AGAIN to £675) and I still find myself looking at it lovingly Grin. Mulberry bags are great investment bags, but it's such a shame their prices are now so astronomically high. I could never justify another one, although I would have loved something in Oak leather.

Astley · 10/05/2011 13:04

I know I can't believe how much it's gone up, nearly £700 for a bag is a little Shock

But they are so so lovely Blush
