I haven't got any specific dresses in mind yet, but i just wondered if in principle this was a very bad idea. I've always been a hippy at heart and i'm starting to learn to reflect that in my clothes, rather than the head to toe Next i'd got used to wearing... but i don't know if it's a bit much for a wedding? don't want to ruin the photos! was thinking of hippyish flat sandals to go with, but not sure.

Grand idea if you have the kind of looks that vintage suits iyswim. Not jangling coins type dresses or similar though, unless you're a student in the 1990s Grin

I am at a wedding this month and have bought pretty maxi dress and wedges,,couple of my friends are wearing similar.I would go with your instinct-head to toe next is so boring, we all have different personalities and should reflect that in how we dress.Buy something lovely that you feel comfy in and that reflects 'you' and have a lovely day. Also, loads of beautiful maxis available just now!

thanks silentbob - love the name btw - what kind of looks suit maxi dresses then - i'm on the short side and slim-ish apart from my tummy... jangling coins sounds yuk, even to me!

thelambliesdown - thanks for that, i feel a bit more confident about it now!

Unless the dress is bag lady style then can't see the problem.

A lot of vintage clothes are in very good condition, I have just bought a gorgeous vintage maxi dress off ebay in America. It looks hardly worn, I do think it might have been a bridesmaid dress tho.

Are you near London? That Lucy in Disguise would have some lovely items.

sadly not in london, but planning a trip down soon. i'll have a google of Lucy in Disguise (which just has to be the best vintage shop name ever btw!)

Yes great name! It's Lilly Allen's store, I think they sell on line now. I love vintage and haven't been yet, dying to check it out.

Have a look on Ebay or ASOS Market place. I find maxi dresses with an elasticated waist are most flattering.
