Can anyone recommend a good home hair dye brand that will cover a few (to quite a few!) greys?

I like the new Nicky Clarke foam hair dyes. They have them in Sainsburys and Boots. They are £10.

Watching with interest and hoping for an option that doesn't go red or, worse, "muddy."

nice n' easy by clairol. Use a temp or semi - perm, not a permanent colour first time out. Shades that have "ash" in the name are "cooler", i.e. have less or no red tones. temp (8 wash) products will not cover grey very well. Go one shade lighter than your natural colour for better grey coverage, better blending, less obvious re-growth and a more natural look compared with going darker. Have fun!

Garnier nutrisse - was too drippy and washed out (even off my White towel!)
John Frieda mousse- nice colour but darker than packet, no mess, didn't cover grey well.

I need to find the holy Grail of hair dye too! :)

I've tried some of the Garnier semi permanents for my grey hair but used a permanent Botanics one last time and the colour's lovely - not as harsh as the Garnier ones - a warm reddy-brown rather than purple... Hmm
