Foundation for Asian/darker skins

poppadum · 08/11/2005 13:50

can anyone recommend a good foundation for darker/olive skins? I am Asian and find most foundations look chalky on me. I prefer powder foundations rather than liquidy ones, and don't want to shell out too much.

Tall order, I know.

have you tried bodyshop?

I got a lovely foundation there. I was really surprised. Also if you go into a good department store they should have a good range. Bobby Brown is good.

I've got black skin.

I'm Asian too, but use the liquid foundations - Lancome ones are brilliant, Clinique are also quite good - they are pricey but the Lancome one I've got has lasted for ever - about 3yrs, and very natural looking but effective.

Have you tried MAC, NARS, Prescriptives (they now blend to your own skin tone) and Bobbi Brown? They are a bit more expensive but worth it.

Hi poppadum. Agree with MarsLady re Bodyshop (although I have only used the liquid foundation). Have you tried Marks and Spencer?

If you can get hold of IMAN's line, it is FAB! Ditto MAC.

yes to bodyshop and Clinique!

Iman definitely, my Indian friend got me to buy her Iman when I was living the in the US.

Think she also rates Bobbi Brown.

hiya poppadom,

luv your name, lol,im asian too and although i dont wear founadation unless its a wedding , party ect, i would reccommend mac foundation, all of mac stuff is brill. A bit pricey though, im a bit of a tight git when it comes to buying makeup, superdrug , or boots no 7 usually! i usually wear moiteriser and a bit of concealer...

Thanks for all the replies and sorry for posting twice by mistake! Never thought of Body Shop. Will give it a go, and Bobbi Brown sounds like a good option when I am feeling flush.
