help me revamp spring/summer wardrobe

those of you who love styling other people - would really appreciate your help as I am rubbish at it & am sick of looking drab.

I am late 40s, size 14, 38 C bust, 5'4".
I don't do pinks and pastels - prefer autumnal shades.

I don't want to say too much about what I like to wear as I am prepared to be open minded.

I have enough for day-to-day wear, but never feel right when I go out.

Please find me some outfits for: visiting friends/going out for lunch (not too dressy); casual nights out - e.g. going to the pub; slightly less casual but not too formal for evening meals out.

Budget: depends how much I like something - and am after ideas as much as anything.

Any help much appreciated! Thanks

Friends / lunch - try Oasis for jeans - maybe narrow or straight leg with something like this

Love most of these for day time dresses

If I'm on the right track, I can find more! If I'm way off, just say. :)

Hi COlonel, thanks - I like the White Stuff styles, and good idea to think about dresses. I like the VW top, tho wouldn't spend £185 on a top, no matter how much I liked it. You're def on track with the styling - Thanks!

this jigsaw dress?

Comes in 2 colours that sound good for you?

ColonelBrandonsBiggestGroupie · 06/05/2011 20:45

Nope, I wouldn't spend that much either but worth looking out for sales and it is v lovely!

The White Company dresses are flattering and good quality but tend to come up a bit big. I'm a 12 and have one medium and one small - the medium is a bit big but was in the sale so I bought it anyway!

Will have another think now. :)

thanks pinkflipflop. I like the Jigsaw dress in orange. You and Colonel both on right track re styles. Happy for people to keep looking (not that I'm lazy, just that I'm too conservative if I look myself!)

I'm glad you like the jigsaw dress - I dress it down with a fine long sleeve t-shirt underneath and flat sandals and always feel great (I have the blue though) Love the odd thing from jigsaw!!

any other ideas please? (and very sorry for not putting "please" in the title!)

I've posted a link to an M&S stripey dress on another thread, which I like a lot.

lilolilmanchester · 07/05/2011 19:03

I like that Colonel but I'm not slim or tall enough for horizontal stripes! Tis nice tho.

Well I'm a norky (34E) size 12 and only 5' 2 and it is actually quite flattering! AND I only needed a ten! If you see it irl do try it on - you may be pleasantly surprised!

lilolilmanchester · 08/05/2011 13:04

will do colonel, got a big M&S nearby, and I like their stuff usually so will see if I can find it an promise to try it on.
