My ds is 3 and he really likes this pair of pink wellies he has seen in the shop. They are sparkly and glittery and very pink!

Dh doesnt think i should get them for him (he does need new wellies) but i cant see the problem in him having pink wellies.. yes his a boy - so what?

Shall i get them or would I be breaking some unwritten mommy rule that says boys cant wear pink?

my dt's would love them! I bought them a pair of pink flip flops in the summer but didn't let them wear them out. Friends and Family saw them wearing them though... I don't think I could take them out in something pink though... probably just because I worry what others will think. Having said that I did let them wear their cousins pink baseball hat in the summer, round to the school, and they are always carrying one of her pink handbags... but they don't actually belong to them.... dh would have a fit if he saw them!

If he was school age, I would be less inclined to let him have them because of teasing, but as he's only 3, let him have them.

(And take plenty of photos that you can use as bribes later on in life!!)

Yes get them. Go on. Ds wanted purple suede boots with flowers on the laces so we got them, but removed the flowers. I still feel a traitor, he was so upset when he saw they were gone. We ended up compromising and put just one flower back on, but I wish now I had let him do what he wanted. Dp didn't give two hoots, it was me being stupid. I felt people would say "Oh god look what she's making him wear now." (I am a bit alternative in my parenting beliefs sometimes).

I think you can get some very nice colourful wellies specially for boys, DS's little friend has a pair and they are as lovely as the pink ones that are so much in use.

I dont really mind what he wears pink or not!

He really wants a pushchair and dolly for christmas (he wants bob the builder tools too) I would get them for him but dh thikns i'll turn him gay

Nothing wrong with boys wearing pink and having dolls!

my ds wears his sister's old pink wellies and he loves them. I wouldn't worry as he doesn't have to wear them to school does he?

janeybops · 07/11/2005 20:57

but then he has also had a lilac baby blanket, pink baby grows and a yellow girls winter coat in the past. oh and 2 pink cups that his sister didn't get on with...

I have to say I love pink shirts for men so can't see the difference.

HuggyBear · 07/11/2005 21:31

He has to take them to nursery with him, as they have requested all kids take some

You cannot 'turn' someone gay.

And there is nothing wrong with being gay (sorry just on my high horse, off it now ).

Lastly go for it, give him the pink wellies! My dd is always wanting the toys of the shelf labelled "boys toys" in Mothercare, which i lectured a Saturday boy about once!

DS loves pink. His pink pyjamas (after his sisters) are his absolutely favourite. He wore a red fleece with flowers on to walk the girls to school today. I just don't think it matters. There are far more inmportant things to worry about than their favourite colours!
