Any ideas on what I could wear for DD's Christening?

I'm dieting back to my pre-baby shape. I'm 35, never very slim but 5'9 and a size 14. I'm fair with long blonde hair and have just noticed that I sound fairly attractive in my description but I'm actually not Grin.

DD's Christening is in a few months (waiting for date from Priest) and I really want to look good, as we got married 2 years ago and it was dreadful and I looked like shit. My family treated me very badly in the lead up to it, to the extent that I just shut down and dont know how I got through my wedding day. I ordered an ugly, boring wedding dress online, tried it on once and then just threw it on on the day. I couldnt be bothered with any of it and have no happy memories of the day at all. I physically shudder just thinking about it.

So! I want to get this right. I only have a budget of about £100 but I would like to look stylish, together and I don't know, like a confident woman I suppose!

Sorry for wittering, hope someone can give me an idea of where to start. I have no clue what type of thing is appropriate Confused

For my DS' (RC) christening I wore a reasonably modest dress from Fenn Wright Manson in a funky print (cap sleeves, fairly high necked, to the knee), black tights and skyscraper heels. The dress was about £100 I think.

This general shape here but it had a less fitted waist.

If you've got a few months you might want to wait for the autumn collections to come out as the dresses are more substantial - I bought mine at the end of August for a mid September date.

Sorry that I posted and then split. They are all lovely, thanks for the suggestions. I like the idea of a funky dress, black tights and huuuuge heels but as I'm fairly tall anyway I feel a bit self conscious in big heels. Even though I absolutely love them. Maybe I should just wear them anyway and embrace it!

I really like the green Laura Ashely dress as it's quite subdued - would a little cardi and big heels look ok with the green one do you think? Or is that a bit old-womany?
