Im just curious as to what to wear with my new fab maxi skirt, i have quite a sticky out tummy so dont want to wear tight vests tops cos i do end up looking pregnant, if i wear floaty tops though i end up looking like a huge balloon, im a 12/14 but only tiny so cant get away with everything, any ideas???

I've been wearing loose vest tops with long necklaces, but I'm not sure it's working. Will be watching this thread with interest.

Wear a tight vest top then a slighty floaty vest top in a contrasting colour on top. Hides a multitude. (Also agree with the long necklace suggestion...)

ARe these all the rage then???

I have a big parcel of them upstairs ready to put on ebay from when they were last in fashion about 5 years ago!

Low neck, well cut t- shirt works. Especially good fabric like silk.
T-shirts are not all the same. Low neck stops it being boxy and shortening.

I wear my maxi skirt with a tight(ish) vest top and a waistcoat from RI which isn't on line anymore but looks a bit like this from Dorothy Perkins and a long necklace.

Oh God, this maxi thing just won't die. They make me look like a dalek

Pagwatch - where do you get your silk t-shirts from? Have been looking for some for ages.

I've got a draped maxi skirt this sort of shape but without the short bit at the front and I wear it with a fitted t-shirt and either an open denim shirt or denim jacket or a cropped cardigan over it.

Pagwatch · 28/04/2011 21:58

I got a couple in a local boutique but about two years ago. One was Joseph and one was from Matches but will have to check the brand..
I'll have a look around for some and get back to you

ColonelBrandonsBiggestGroupie · 28/04/2011 22:03

Thank you. Gap had some a year or so ago but they were v boxy and came up stupidly big, so I didn't buy any and haven't seen any since.

Ill have to have for some silk t shirts, although if there too long on me they end up crumpled around my tummy and make me look bigger, I need to find a fitted style t shirt or vest that doesnt cling too much but still looks fitted (impossible probably), i may just have to accept i should wear maxi skirts, and stick to the dresses which i think anyone can pull off if they find the right one!

MadameCastafiore - Yes Yes, put them on ebay straight away and watch the money come rolling in, if you put Vintage maxi skirts in the title you'll probably get a lot more too x

Ive just been looking through some catalogue pics for inspiration and think i may have found the answer, its a strapless top but the cotton kind, not too fitted but not too slouchy, and then they have them wearing a lovely shrug cardigan too so covers the arms if you dont want to show them off!!

I dont know how to link a picture or i would, but think you can imagine! x
