Can I wear red to a wedding on Sat?

Am invited to morning service (11.3am) then reception, then eve do. I don't do pale colours so was thinking of a red short sleeved dress over pin stripe black trousers and black shoes to carry me through whole day.

But then have a sneaky suspicion most female guests will be in pale colours - ie floral.

what do you think?

Red dress sounds fine but why over trousers?

dexter73 · 27/04/2011 21:01

Think the trousers might look a bit odd.

zozzle · 27/04/2011 21:16

Ok trousers because I'm lazy and dont want to go and buy shoes to match dress - means I could wear my short black boots with heal.

But yes you may be right - may look odd.

Why on earth wouldn't you wear red? Trousers with it will look odd though Smile

KingCnut · 27/04/2011 21:20

Absolute no to trousers and dress together!!

And of course red for a wedding - the colour of love and luck after all Smile

PiaThreeTimes · 27/04/2011 21:20

Is there a rule about red dresses? I don't know why that wouldn't be ok.

Agree about the pinstripe trousers. I think it'd look odd.

TethersEnd · 27/04/2011 21:21

yy to red dress- why not wear black opaques with the short black boots instead of pinstripe trousers?

Seriously. Do NOT wear pinstripe trousers.

I've worn red to a wedding. Bright red fitted frock with black satin heels.

Do wear red but I agree with others that the trousers would ruin the look. Do you not have any plain black or neutral shoes you could wear with the dress? If not, could you afford to get a cheapy pair from New Look or something for the occasion. Just a pair of black satin pumps (flat or with heel) would do.

Red is the bridal colour in China - thought to bring good fortune, so very appropriate. Last time I wore red to a wedding, I was the bride Grin

I think its red hats that are a problem (well according to my mum anyway, 'red hat, no knickers').
