How can I de-hair my legs without ripping myself to shreds?

I am getting so wound up about this!

ATM I shave my legs and always end up with sore bleeding spots which look worse than the hair does! I only do them about once a week but I have really dark fast growing hair so really they would need done every few days if I actually wanted to get them out. I do them in the shower with shower gel (is this where I am going wrong?) and a sharp razor.

I am a total chicken and have only ever waxed my legs once, it hurt so much and left me with an awful rash so I have never done it again.

Same with that paint stripper veet stuff. Gentle my arse, I think I lost several layers of skin.

Please can someone tell me where i have been going wrong? I refuse to spend another summer in jeans!

Have you tried veet lately? I used to hate because it never seemed that effective, however it seems to really have improved lately. I'm using the shower one with the sponge rather than the spatula it works really well and leaves my legs really soft and smooth.

Not recently thai, i think it was prob 4 years or so ago.

I swore to never do that to myself again. It didn't even take away the hair!

Ooh I feel all in a dilemma now...maybe it is time to take another look.

hows about an epilator various different price ranges on that link

I'm not sure of the difference between the cheapest and the most expensive.

I will say that it stings abit - I find it better using 2 epilators on each leg it sort of confuses the brain as to where the stinging is coming from. Grin

and you only have to do it every 4-5 weeks!

I have always been terrified of epilators. Maybe i could epilate with one hand and whack myself over the head with the other

Thanks furball [csmile] i'll check out the link

As for shaving:

  1. Do you exfoliate regulary? Dry skin can make the razor run less smootly, making it easier for it to nick your skin- maybe try dry brushing them before a shower.
  1. Is it possible you're pressing the razor too hard on to your skin? A sharp razor should get rid of hairs even with very soft strokes.
  1. Baby oil is fab for shaving legs with: just rinse with water and pat dry afterwards, this can make your legs less prone to irritation afterwards.

FWIW thought I love a good eplilator though Grin

Interested to see what people say - I have the exact same problem but also get ingrowing hairs from epilators and waxing :( I am hoping to try Boots Smooth Skin which sounds good though, but not for what you need right now.

I don't think I have ever exfoliated [cgrin] I do tend to press quite hard, I thought I had to. Oops!
