Do you keep reapplying sunblock on your face?

I don't see how we can if we put sunblock on in the morning and then put makeup ontop of it.

I had Clarins spf 15 on yesterday and sat outside for a bit (an hour maybe in total) and my face was pink this morning!

I am going to get spf 30 - but how long does it last? If I do my face at 8am - is it still going to be working at the heat of the day when I walk the dog at 2pm??

I use Chanel tinted moisturiser which has SPF50. I wouldn't reapply unless specifically sitting out to sunbathe.

I even wear it when skiing and never burn.

Oh and if you apply SPF30 in the morning, I should think it would still be okay for dog walk at 2pm.

good question, don't know the answer but all I can think of is applying one of those all day ones like P20 and being very sure you don't miss any part of you otherwise it won't be protected at all. (since I clearly forgot to do a bit at the top of my chest once and got a bit frazzled - had I been reapplying I might have remembered the next time and not got overdone. I send DS to school in P20 so at least I know I have done it properly(I hope) ONCE and that should be enough, but he does have to have a bottle in his bag and i have told him if they tell him to put it on don't argue. But I think the staff don't bother most of the time hence the P20 cos he wouldn't think of doing it otherwise. But I think P20 has alcohol in it which would be drying on skin so not ideal for faces I guess. and should you put that on first and then moisturiser or moisturise first then sunscreen? unless it is an all in one like the Clarins I have no clue.

I have bought the Soltan (Boots) Once for face (spf 30). You put it under your make up and it is supposed to last 8 hours.

I use Ultrasun Factor 30+ for my face - it will last the whole day !

Pinkflipflop · 27/04/2011 16:05

Agree, use Ultrasun - it's brilliant and also acts as a primer for makeup!

You don't need a separate moisturiser.

Deaddei · 27/04/2011 16:32

Every bloody sun product I use on my face gives me blotches and spots-even Dermalogica at £35a pop.
I use a moisturiser with SPF 20 and quite frankly, will be the one wearing a big hat this summer.

OP - it's only a sunblock if it's a minimum of SPF 16.

You need to apply a full teaspoon to get the full SPF, so if you only use half that amount, then your SPF is halved too.

Missred · 27/04/2011 19:49

Fcator 50, yes maybe a second application if the sun's strong and I'm out and about.

Missred · 27/04/2011 19:49

factor

BigSooz · 27/04/2011 19:51

Yep, if I am out and about I will reapply it every hour or so. It is slightly annoying re: make-up, but I would rather have messed up make-up than sunburn or skin cancer.
