Kate Middleton: should she do British designers or British high street?

I've got the day off and have spent an awful lot of time this weekend reading the papers.

I have to confess to being republican but I do love a pretty girl and a nice dress and a wedding. I once saw KM in the King' Road, she was gorgeous, and I'm looking forward to Friday.

A lot of the papers are going on about what a great marketing opportunity KM represents for British designers. Do you agree?

IMO it would really piss me off if KM wore designer clothes. For the moment, I console myself that she's spending her parents' money, or getting stuff free.

I don't want her to spend public money (PW is on the civil list IRRC) on designer clothes. I loved the fact that she was shopping in Warehouse last week. The Royals aren't allowed to accept gifts (though I'm sure they do), and every time she wore Burberry or Mulberry I'd be in a fury thinking, "We've paid for that." It's a bit easier to swallow if she's on the High Street spending £40 Grin

It made me crosser than cross that a civil list non-entity like Sophie bloody Wessex has reportedly spent £3k on couture Bruce Oldfield to wear to the wedding. That's our money, you twunt, and I bet you'll still look like a county matron twice your age Hmm

I agree re Sophie and beatrice and eugenie rarely get it right. I like some of the honeymoon outfits ... She wore Burberry too so is flying the flag at public events.
Papers don`t seem to get that her honeymoon wadrobe is going to be private unlike the Diana / Charles wedding when on honeymoon in Scotland she looked bored and cold on the official photoshoot.

did you read Liz whatshername in the daily wail this weekend moaning that Kate had been spending on the high street not on designers and then proceeded to suggest some hideous clothing and shoes Kate should have bouht. I think good for her (Kate), she knows what she likes and why shouldn't she continue buying from the high street.
