Maxi Dress for a wedding

Ladies I am hovering over the buy button on 2 maxi dresses. I fancy a maxi dress as have 2 little ones and so many dresses would be to short. I am 5ft 5, size 10/12, E cup. So many dresses are cut tight across the bust. The first dress is www.debenhams.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/prod_10001_10001_58607+2334348189_-1?breadcrumb=Home~Women~Dresses and the second one I like is www.monsoon.co.uk/new-dresses/meadow-maxi-dress/invt/85327818

I am always a bit reluctant to buy coast for a wedding in case someone else does!

Please be gentle this is my 1st S&B post....

I think they're both lovely, but personally I like the monsoon one more (but only a little bit) as I could see myself wearing it on a more casual basis as well.

I like them both too but I too would probably sway towards the Monsoon one as it could be dressed up or down and also because there are more colours in it to accessorise it differently.

I would be tempted to order both and try them both on and see which one was most flattering.

Yes I think I could get a nice shrug to go with the Monsoon one but am worried about the fit around my boobs. Would it be ok to wear with low jewelled sandals or are heels a must for a wedding?

I dread getting dressed up!

I like the monsoon. Would good with wedges.

I am in the same boat coolkat and have also chosen a maxi dress. I am planning flats as I don't want to be miserable - the groom is a great friend and I want to enjoy his day. I thought that with a maxi it was easier to avoid heels as noone can really feel your feet. Grin

I like jewelled sandals carrotts my only thing with the monsoon one is the length will definately have to try on I am 5ft 5 and don't want it to be to short.......... Hoping to go shopping on thurs or friday, was going to order but can't afford to order both. Thanks ladies. Please suggest any others you feel will fit the bill.

I am 5ft 5 (sometimes 6 [bugrin] and one monsoon maxi I tried was perfect and the other was a touch long. It was long in the body though and was 2 sizes too big so that might have been the problem [buhmm]

Right I have tried both. Not for me... Coast one fitted beautifully, size 10 plenty long enough but felt dull! Monsoon, lovely length not right across the bust, to volumous around the tummy. So the hunt goes on........... ! Thanks for your help.

Oh no coolkat - back to the drawing board. One of the Monsoon ones I tried had too much material round the stomach too. I like them fitted round the bust and under it and then skimming down over the tummy and hips.

I have ordered one from Monsoon in a few sizes which I think will do this. Unfortunately it is not online but was in the shop. It was a satin feel fabric with a black background and a green and purple pattern on it. It reminded me of peacocks. Grin

I ordered it a week ago though and they haven't turned up yet so I am trying not to hold out too much hope.

Istarted to try a gorgeous green one on in monsoon and then saw the price £199, can't justify that or really afford it! I have ordered the Phase Eight Renee dress as it looks like it would be fine round the boobs and then comes in order the bust which is what I need. A lot of the more fitted dresses in monsoon were to tight on the bust but then were to volumous everywhere else.
Oasis dresses tend to fit me quite well but some are a little short and they don't quite feel special enough Hmm
Please keep posting any others you come across. I need straps though as don't feel comfy in strapless bra's!

Have you looked in Kaliko? There are some beautiful dresses on their website. This one gives the impression it would flatter the bust but be more sleek elsewhere here but there are loads of beautiful ones on the site.

I had the same problem re straps and normally wear a 32J bra, but was recommended this bra www.figleaves.com/uk/product.asp?product_id=fe-4530 which really works and feels very supportive -I was amazed!
