Am desperate for a neat kempt bikini line that doesn't require daily maintenance or give me ingrown hair. Am I asking too much?

Shaving leaves me with permanent bristle, silk-epiling gives me horrid ingrown hair, am now at the Immac whip it all off stage, which means I'm either bald or stubbly all over. Not ideal. Do I need to go to a salon?? Is this what everyone else does???

Tiger I was in the same predicament and for a bit too much info struggled valiantly with a trimmer and mirror when 39/40 only to find following birth of ds that I had missed a huge bit. Blush I looked like a careless cavewoman.

It's a mystery to me why anyone feels the need to do anything to their pubic hair.

Isn't it just another part of the body we have been taught to hate?

NettoSuperstar · 25/04/2011 21:34

I epilate it all off.

messybessie · 25/04/2011 21:36

Egg, I felt the same and had never bothered. But this hot weather was making me feel most hot and sweaty so decided to give it a go.

Nothing drastic but feels much better.

smokinaces · 25/04/2011 21:38

Egg, I do mine as I am so dark skinned and haired and have PCOS so if I dont do it it goes a bit out of control. I also struggle with keeping the area properly clean if there is too much hair down there IYSWIM so I at least trim it and tidy it up.

MissBeehivingChoclitWabbits · 25/04/2011 21:50

I don't wax my sides because I have hang ups about my ladygarden, I do it because I don't like the way it makes a break for freedom out of the side of my pants. If I wanted my lingerie to come with fringing I would buy it like that. Wink

Egg I have never bothered before but atm I'm pregnant and hot and it was getting uncomfortable so sorted it out for my own comfort. I don't hate it at all.

Wax at a salon, and then exfoliate gently every few days. There are a load of lotions for ingrowing hairs on the market, and one I used (the name of which I have forgotten, sadly) definitely helped!

TheGoddessBlossom · 25/04/2011 22:06

shave sides and underneath that would be visible when in a swimming cossie.

I find if I moisturise it well enough after every time it doesn't get red or itchy, mind you I have been doing this for years......

ohmyfucksy · 25/04/2011 22:08

Trim and the shave the bits that poke out. Shaving doesn't itch or irritate me

trixymalixy · 25/04/2011 22:48

I spent hundreds on laser treatment and still have hair there, very disappointingly. It does seem to have stopped what us there giving me ingrowing hairs though oddly. I just shave the bits that you would be able to see when wearing a swimming costume.

Anything more and I itch like crazy.

CointreauVersial · 25/04/2011 22:54

I used to shave off the knicker spiders, so I didn't frighten small children at the swimming pool.

But I have recently switched to epilating the edges (yes, hurts like buggery, but only for a few seconds every couple of weeks). It doesn't itch as much when it regrows.

The rest grows wild and free.

KingCnut · 25/04/2011 23:05

Wax strips, none of them fancy-wax so gentle doesn't do a bloody thing- bikini line ones: proper wax strips cut to size, bit of talc, skin pulled taut and hey presto.

pommedechocolat · 26/04/2011 11:47

When pg and stopped being able to see my fanjo I tried to get a wax but because I couldn't lie down properly on my back it really, really didn't work and I nearly passed out in the salon.

So I left it. When dd had exited I discovered it was holey moley long and dark and straight. was really quite soft and silky.

Normally I trim the bush right down and wax the top and sides that come over bikini pants (low ones). Home wax or salon wax no difference I still get ingorwn hairs that scar.

Want to try an epilator really.

Northumberlandlass · 26/04/2011 12:24

Wax at a salon every 5 weeks year round - brazillian.
I do still get the odd ingrown hair, but generally great.

I get terrible shaving rash, and immac / creams aren't strong enough to remove all the hairs anyway.
