Help me find a "pencil-skirt" dress for wedding!!

Ok I have a big posh wedding in a few weeks time.

This is my first big occasion since having my DS and I would love to show off my baby weight-loss :) (with the help of Spanx of course!!)

I hope to be a size 8 by then (size 8-10 at the mo) and am 5'8'' tall.

I'm thinking just below-the-knee fitted pencil skirt style dress. Maybe floral..... Shock ???! I like this one from Phase 8 -

...although I don't really suit pink hhmmmmm. But this gives an idea of the shape I'm after.

Willing to spend up to say £150ish.

Thank you!!!!

Have a look at LK Bennet - they are all too long for me but you are lovely and tall so they will be fab on you.

I have always liked the look of this Photo Me dress and the site has lots of other pencil styles. The Photo Me is available with sleeves.

That's a really nice dress, Flo- comes in floral too.

Good site- have you bought from them? What's the quality like?

foundwanting · 25/04/2011 19:13

I think (but am willing to be put right) that Diva Catwalk and Diva Corsets, here used to be one company called Diva Couture.

I had a couple of dresses from them about 3 years ago, then they disappeared for a while and these two have come along.

The dresses I had were excellent, although their sizing was a bit hit and miss. Can still get bits and pieces in a local boutique, but they don't buy very well unfortunately.

could try this site or here if you want retro look

French Connection have some but not sure if theyare pink

FlorenceandtheWashingMachine · 25/04/2011 19:26

I haven't bought from Diva, but am pleased to hear that FW liked their stuff (if they're the same as Diva Couture which sounds likely). I wish that they would invest in better styling / photography!

Please report back if you get one.

I have a cap sleeve Photo Me dress in Navy - it's vv fitted and just below the knee (I'm 5 ft 8ins too)

It is lovely - but IMHO not really "smart" enought for a wedding. The fabric is thick and stretchy like wearing a spanx dress but it is synthetic and does look a little cheap compared to say an LK Bennett/Millen dress (which are alot more expensive)

I'd go for an LK bennett dress personally. But having said that I would def recommend a Photo Me dress for a night out

chocolateteabag · 25/04/2011 21:28

Sorry - to add
Quality of the Diva Catwalk Photo Me dress - very good.
Sizing - I got a medium and at the time was a pear shaped size 12 bottom and 10 top - it was tight but meant I didn't need spanx. Probably would have got a large had the returns not been PITA.

Some of their dresses do look a bit baff looking but photo me is nice. If I can lose baby weight hope to get back into it one day!

SilkStalkings · 26/04/2011 14:43

The VofH Sarong dresses are probably best if you are worried about your tummy, the asymmetric frill distracts the eye.
