Summer hats for walking?

I'm very pale and freckly and need to wear a hat when out walking but I don't want to look like I've lost my way from either a safari or a wedding... has anyone got any ideas??

Ooh, marking my place shamelessly as I'm pale too and hate to tan/burn, but I know what you mean about looking like a refugee from a wedding or a safari holiday! In the past I've gone for wide-brimmed hats in a 'casual' material like straw, in the hope that they don't look too wedding-ish. The downside is that I always feel a bit like someone'e eccentric maiden aunt traipsing about the countryside in them.

Me too - always feel like I should be on a Cadbury flake ad if wearing a hat

I guess the other approach is to wear your wide-brimmed hat with pride, and waft about as if you WERE in a Flake ad! (or Virginia Woolf off on a bracing walk).

Marking my place, I could do with one too.

What about some of these? (Noting that there are a few that are awful, too.)

Thanks Smile I've never come across that brand before, I'm thinking this one might work but they only have it in brown which seems a bit dark for a summer hat - or not?

OP posts:

I don't think it's too dark; it's just different from what you'd normally expect. Glad you (potentially) found something! Smile

i prefer the brown colour and am considering buying it myself. seems a lot of £££ for a casual hat though
