Are french manicures a complete no no these days?

I wish my nails to look more groomed, but read that french manicures are a bit of a no go these days. I don't think I can do colour as my hands are not dainty, so I don't want to draw too much attention to them with reds and plums.

It's nude and beige tones this season.

I think French Manicure can still look good, but not long nails, more short and squared off. I always think that looks quite nice.

A french manicure is still better than the horror I saw yesterday. Long toenails, really long toenails, painted very neatly in bright orange. I wanted to go up to this woman and hand her a pair of clippers. The nail was honestly a full cm over the end of her toe - yuck, yuck!!

I'm nowhere near hip enough to keep up with what colours are this season Confused I was a bit concerned about looking, dare I say 'chavvy' but my nails are short so I may throw caution to the wind and get a manicure.
looks down to check toenail length

I always have french manicure on toes in the summer and short nails with clear polish on hands (v exciting I know but I'm just not that IN to nail polish) - if you like fm go for it! I think it looks clean and groomed!

Go for an American manicure, where the tip is a cream colour (essentially, like your natural nail tip, but fresher), as opposed to very white, which is passé. The top coat should be flesh toned. The overall effect should look very natural and understated. Even French manicures on short nails still look wag-esque.

An American manicure sounds nice, I think I may give that a whirl. Thanks all.

I keep my nails short (cannot stand it if i can hear or feel them when i am texting) and i paint them in dark red very dark red as it slims the finger. Sometimes when i have a tan i will paint them bright orange or bright red. Always opi nail varnish.

A french manicure is timeless.
