In about to try it for the first time.
Just wondered If anyone has any advice regarding which colour to go for?
What's trendy for nails right now?

I have my nails done in Shellac for a wedding (I was part of the wedding party) and they looked fabulous; a bright red and very shiny.

However, they have damaged my nails - having them soaked off really dried my nails out. Mind you I have always had problems with nail vanish remover.

They did look amazing though!

Oooh that's interesting Teahouse I'm only going for them as the salon told me they don't harm your own nails at all (having had terrible nails after acrylic/gels last year)

They don't rough your own nails down with that machine file first though do they? I think that's what killed mine last time

They didn't damage mine but probably because they started to come off themselves after a week so I just peeled the rest off. I think I had a bad experience though and would try again at a different salon. They did look fab though, I had the sparkly red, I think the new colours must be coming out soon as there's not many modern colours. She didn't file my nails down beforehand.

No they didn't do that and the shellac stuff encourages your nails to grow. When they took mine off though I had my nails soaked in a remover (and put in a sort of mini oven to speed up the process), then the remainder scrapped off, then I think they did do some sort of buffing after.

Normally my nails are really tough and a coupel have split, and the rest are ridgey. I do have really sensitive finger nails though which have never liked varnish.

The Shellac does look amazing though and lasts for several weeks. I'd go for it and risk the consequences. I so loved having them on - couldn't stop looking at them.

Thanks ladies,
yeah I'm gonna go for it. I think I'm just a bit hesitant after the acrylic experience. My nails took nearly 3 months to get back to normal after having them.
I quite like the look of the kinda sparkly navy but it's not very summery?! Maybe I should go with the pale pink...or the hot pink...oh it's just too hard to choose!

I had a red - if you go here the colour is the second picture from the bottom.
Mind you it was for a wedding and they were very noticable...but so gorgeous
