Sunhat for 30-something woman...

This heatwave has me running from shady place to next shady place as I burn to a crisp so easily. Now I am, ahem, approaching my mid-30's I feel I really need to protect my face properly from the sun...and I need a hat. I want to not look like an idiot and still retain some semblance of chic style...whilst wearing some sort of sunhat.

Does such an item exist??? I usually wear skirts/fitted t-shirts/ capri trousers etc...was thinking some sort of straw hat but don't want to edge into Worzel Gummidge territory...please help!

I think this sort of thing is cool - you can get wider, floppier brims but need to be rather tall to pull them off IMHO.

I am not tall though...about 5'5"...so would I look odd??

What about this or a less over priced equivalent?

slinkyboo · 22/04/2011 19:39

Not really me...I am definitely not glamorous enough (at all!) to wear a Stetson style hat...but thank you!!

this?

hermioneweasley · 22/04/2011 19:42

i'm not glam at all but i got a stetson style hat from accessorize at the airport and wore it all holiday. would def recommend!

tassisssss · 22/04/2011 19:43

i like this one a lot

slinkyboo · 22/04/2011 19:50

Too 'showy' for me, Dueling (I am so, so dull Sad) though pretty.
Tassisssss, again very pretty - especially on the model - but I'd feel a bit self-conscious in it, with me being so, erm, dull...Confused

i've just bought a straw trilby hat from new look.

JackieNo · 23/04/2011 10:33

I think I'd be inclined to go for a \link{http://www.accessorize.com/en/restofworld/all-accessories/panama-hat/invt/89142911/?bklist=icat,4,shop,accessoriesshop,accessoriesshophats\panama or similar} - something more structured, but that's because that would suit my face shape best.

tangerinajolie · 23/04/2011 15:54

I have this one in ivory and it is easy to wear - nice and light and brim can be worn up or down as it sort of moulds in to shape!

Sorry - will try again!
