Male summer wear - help me turn dh into a tastefully dressed man!

Dh spends all summer in jeans and a long sleeved top. He just looks so hot, poor love.
He wont wear short sleeves because he isny at the peak of bodybuilding anymore Hmm.
He wont wear shorts because he realy truely does have a top heavy body which makes his legs look thin.
He is really fussy about footwear; apparently anything other than walking boots fall apart after a month, or hurt so much he gets 'a syndrome'.
We arent an ironing household, and we like casual - he would never be a linen man!

So. Ideas? I'd love him in under-knee shorts and a trendy top etc. Is there the equivalent of the miracle swimsuit in the realm of men's shorts?!

Ah, I know exactly how you feel. My DH only used to wear boots and walking socks, even in the height of summer, makes me feel hot just to look at him. I have nagged persuaded him into those treking sandals, and also he quite likes the flip flops I got him with the beer bottle opener in the bottom of the sole as that appeals (think they are reef?).

Uniqlo have some nice summer stuff including some great long sleeve linen shirts which you could get away without ironing. How about cargo trousers instead of jeans?

Chinos and a cotton button down shirt?

you can't beat the classics. dh always looks great as he never buys trends or colours but just stuff that never dates. gap trousers in navy or beige. dockers trousers are also nice. blue cotton shirts, plain and self stripe. white linen loose fitting shirt. polo shirts. for more casual grey, navy tees nothing with writing on it.

I'd forgotten dockers existed! There's a bit of nostalgia for me!
He wont do polos as that's his work uniform, and wont wear t shirts anywhere except the gym.
Cargos , yep; altho I'm a bit Hmm about him sliding back into his scruffy-combats-with-holes-and-frayed-ends phase.
I'd love him in a shirt, but I anticipate resistance...

There was a man on the bus the other day, and he just looked so dignified in the face of a heatwave; I was on the verge of telling him so Blush

I recently got DH out of T-shirts into shirts. He actually phoned me yesterday to say how great they are in the hot weather and that he was coming home to bin all his T-shirts (mind you, he forgot that part once home).

jimswifein1964 · 20/04/2011 22:58

Maybe i should just get him one then! Although he would need to try it on first (more resistance).
