After a disaster with a made-to-measure dress I ordered for my brothers wedding this Saturday (it turned up badly sewn and not at all like the brief) I had to leg it into town today and try to find a new frock!

I bought this dress in plain cherry red. It's gorgeous. It fits like a glove and is deliciously retro!

Now my accessories for the previous dress don't work at all so I'm thinking.

these shoes

with a black clutch. A necklace (to be found tomorrow) and a fab hair flower.

Please please tell me I'll look like a pin-up beauty and not a fancy dress eejit!!!

Oh I LOVE that dress, I couldn't pull it off though Sad I bought a cherry-print top from Wallis recently so will have to make do with that for now.

Do you mean the same dress put in plain red with the leopard heels? (can only see cherry-print on the link) Not sure if you need both a necklace and a flower, some red lips and a flower would be fab.

Have a great time.

NinjaChipmunk · 20/04/2011 16:36

I love the dress and I think you'll look fab. I do wonder whether red patent heels in the same kind of style as the ones you'd picked would go better? I bet that dress gives a really good shape.

NinjaChipmunk · 20/04/2011 16:37

if the dress is plain not printed then the leopard heels would be fab.

BunnyLebowski · 20/04/2011 16:38

Yep that dress but in a plain red colour (no print).

The neckline is fairly straight across so I immediately thought a necklace would be needed but I'll see tomorrow!

Have the make-up sorted (red lips, black 50's liner). Am going to use my heated rollers on my hair and then brush into 50's style waves with one side pinned back with the flower.

What a rollercoaster of a few days but I feel good to go now!

Love the dress and the shoes, but there are some on page 5 of that site with a red ribbon detail which I think would make it more of an 'outfit' IYKWIM

foundwanting · 20/04/2011 16:47

These ones?

BunnyLebowski · 20/04/2011 16:49

Those are gorgeous foundwanting but I don't have time to order them! We leave on Friday morning for Scotland! The leopard print ones are being sent on Next Day Delivery so I'm delighted with them! Have always hankered after a pair but never had the right dress till now Grin Grin

I understand. You wanted the shoes, so you have had to plan your whole outfit around them. Grin

I'm going to a masked ball next month and have the best shoes ever. Can't find a sodding dress to go with them though!

Spangers · 20/04/2011 17:01

Ooh foundwanting where did your get your mask from? I have a mask party coming up and don't know where to start.

Can we have a link to the shoes just because I like looking at pretty shoes? Grin

BunnyLebowski · 20/04/2011 17:02

Ooh yes please let's have a look at yours then foundwanting!!

TethersEnd · 20/04/2011 17:11

I couldn't resist linking to this because I think it would look lovely.

Have you got any gloves? Would finish the outfit off nicely.

I too want to see foundwanting's shoes...

BunnyLebowski · 20/04/2011 17:13

Oh tethers that is beautiful! If I had a few more days I'd be buying it!!

I like the sound of gloves - very chic! Black ones I'm assuming?
No idea where I'd get some though!

OP posts:
TethersEnd · 20/04/2011 17:17

yy, black satin... like this

Or leopard Wink

JennyPiccolo · 20/04/2011 17:24

white lace gloves a la madonna circa 1985.

TethersEnd · 20/04/2011 17:26

I know it's frowned upon (but very 50s) to match bag and shoes, but could you do a leopard clutch?

this is beautiful, cheap and would match shoes... would look divine with black satin gloves...

foundwanting · 20/04/2011 17:26

[[http://www.schuh.co.uk/black-and-purple-schuh-prince-court-glitter/1137158960/ These] are the shoes.

Haven't got a mask yet but there is a place near us that has loads. Are you in Norfolk, Spangers ?

BunnyLebowski · 20/04/2011 17:28

Yeeeeah Jenny. I'm not convinced on the clashing decades thing.

Plus my white lace gloves are at the dry cleaners.

Cheers though!

Tethers - not sure on matching bag to shoes but I'll be passing Peacoocks on my travels tomorrow anyway so will have a look.

These could work too

JennyPiccolo · 20/04/2011 17:28

the 50s were all the rage in the 80s! Tch.

BunnyLebowski · 20/04/2011 17:30

Here you go foundwanting Those are some serious party shoes! I love em!!

I had originally bought these to go with my now defunct dress. Now need to find an occasion to wear them!

I think we have similar taste!

OP posts:
Spangers · 20/04/2011 17:30

Oh wow they are amazing, I have some like that but plain black and can only wear them for short distances! Yes I'm in Norwich.

foundwanting · 20/04/2011 17:30

Aaarghhh. People talking to me when I'm trying to do linky things.

Here

foundwanting · 20/04/2011 17:38

Thanks, Bunny too much going on here.

Spangers you need to get yourself to Kerry's Pine in Reepham. If you're looking for a mask, a furniture shop is the obvious place, non?

The have a small selection at 'Feet On The Ground' (next to 'Head in the Clouds') too.

Spangers · 21/04/2011 08:07

Thanks, Head in the Clouds is round the corner so will take a look. Fancy a wander down the vintage shops on magdalen st today now too.

BunnyLebowski · 21/04/2011 16:26

Shoes arrived this morning and they are fabulous Grin. And really comfy too!

Went into town and very nearly came home with this but chickened out! Got a gorgeous flower instead.

Ready to rock now Grin
