A question about leggings...

Can someone tell me please what are the correct lengths for leggings at the moment? For instance, you see people with leggings that go to their ankles and some half way down the calf, but is it still fashionable to wear them just below the knee?

Thanks Smile

I think full-length is the only currently acceptable legging length atm.

I diagree. If you have good calves, now is the time to wear 3/4 lengths with summer dresses. Full length when it's hot = NO.

Cattleprod · 20/04/2011 08:51

Sometimes shorter ones look better if you are wearing them under a dress or skirt.

I think the only rule is you must cover your bum with some sort of long top or dress. Otherwise you get problems with VPL, camel toe etc.

Really? Oh, good Smile

It is stinking hot where I live, so would rather wear them as short as possible. Whilst also looking up to date.

what I would like to know is what colours are acceptable

supadupacreameggscupa · 20/04/2011 08:52

which - sorry

Ladyegg · 20/04/2011 08:53

I think if you are petite then definitely to the ankle as it will elongate the leg, but other than that I think you need to try some to see what suits your size and shape. I am tall and have very skinny ankles, so I wear then just above the ankle as this looks better on me. I'm not sure about just below the knee other than for sports, though.

MarieFromStMoritz · 20/04/2011 08:53

Oh yes, Cattleprod. I wouldn't dream of not wearing a thigh-skimming top or tunic or dress of some sort Grin

i agree for summer cropped ones look good with little dresses or long tops, ones that come to about an inch or 2 below your knees.

and supadupa the ONLY acceptable legging colour is BLACK

MarieFromStMoritz · 20/04/2011 09:35

superv1xen, so glad to hear that just below the knee is acceptable. However, less glad to hear that only black is. Particularly as I have just (like 2 mins ago) bought a navy pair Angry.

superv1xen · 20/04/2011 09:36

oh i am sure navy would look good too!!

:o

superv1xen · 20/04/2011 09:37

no really, i have seen leggings in hideous colours like hot pink (wtf) and also white and grey which to me just look wrong but tbh navy probably would look good esp with a nice bright summery dress.

soah · 20/04/2011 09:38

I disagree 'the only acceptable colour is black' I have navy and grey ones , depends on what other colour you are wearing them with...

pink4ever · 20/04/2011 09:42

Well I have navy ones on today. Full length but have a cut out bit at ankle with bow. From Peacocks(sorry am useless at links). They are very nice and I know am going to wear them to death over the summer.3/4 lengths ones are minging imo.

Eglu · 20/04/2011 09:46

I think Black, Navy and possibly dark brown are acceptable. White are just vile.

Rassy · 20/04/2011 10:08

I am self conscious about my veiny legs and wearing leggings to the ankle has meant I can wear summer dresses! Grin

SaggyHairyArse · 20/04/2011 10:18

I think the acceptable length is wjhatever suits your legs and what you find comfy. I wear them to the ankle as I have quite muscley calves and calf length makes them look well chunky.

Whatevs · 20/04/2011 10:29

I have made the transition from black leggings only to: dark grey, navy, brown/mink sort of colour and even (woooooh!) light grey marl leggings yesterday (cropped and worn underneath a white and navy dress). It looked alright, I thought Grin.

SillyOldHector · 20/04/2011 10:35

I wear skinny jeans instead of leggings, turned up a couple of times, with a pair of wedge espadrilles (with ties). Long tee and short cardigan. Looks really nice.

I find skinny jeans smooth out the lumps and bumps much better than leggings. Although leggings are cooler in warmer weather.

I would only ever wear black or navy leggings.

kyacat · 20/04/2011 10:43

I think whatever length flatters your leg shape is a winner, and dark colours are good as they are slimming. Agree the fanjo must always be covered! :o
