Where can I find a black maxi dress?

I tried one on last year (in Wallis) and it looked fab. I was skint so didn't buy it and couldn't find one in the right size after that. This year, I can't see any black maxi dresses anywhere. I dragged poor DS everywhere today. Am I just a year too late?

Are you after a plain one or something a bit more fancy? New Look have their t-shirt material ones in again this year. I just bought more or less the same one from H&M though which was cheaper (£12.99) and a bit more flattering.

New Look carries the "Apricot" range which come in all the colours of the rainbow and are massively flattering. Also seen some good t-shirt material ones in Jane normal, and I'm sure I;ve seen some in H&M too.

The White Company have one on special offer just now.

I looked in Dotty P's this morning and they had none but that is exactly the type of thing I'm after. I did go in New Look but felt too old so retreated quickly (am 33). Will have a look on The White Company - thank you.

Eeek, the White Company is £70

I've just bought one from Next. Its flattering (especially across the bust). I was very impressed.

The White Company one is £59 in the little catalogue I have - promotion code AA055. Still a lot of £££ I know.

Definitely try it on. I have "looking like I'm 6 months pregnant" issues with a lot of maxis, but this one was lovely. I ended up getting both colours (in different sizes oddly enough - but that's Next for you !)

i have a plain, straight, t shirt style very long black dress from tesco. £16. bargain! its so nice...very understated! i just feel like a tit when i wear it!
