Yumi Maxi Dress

Hi - I'm a size 14/16 with a smallish waist and small bust.
Do you reckon this style dress, quite possibly with little cardi, would look okay as an every day summer dress?

I have larger thighs and bum and long, fair hair. Oh and I'm 5ft 5.5".

here

I hate my claves so want to cover them up - if not this dress, what do you reckon woudl suit me? I'm fed up wearing jeans!

Calves - not claves!!!

Like the crossover shape, good for smaller knockers, you can wear a plungey bra with it. I'm not wild about the print but that's just IMHO.

vintageteacups · 19/04/2011 18:37

Heehee - I do have smaller breasts so glad to know the crossover style would suit me perhaps.

I#m not sure if something plain would be more flattering than all over print or whether print would take focus off bulgy bits!

I've just bought this Utam maxi in the sale

www.ohsoboho.com/clothing-c4/uttam-clothing-fayth-maxi-dress-in-black-with-floral-print-p3059

I'm only 4' 11 and a size 12 , although have big boobs lol, but I've had no end of compliments when I wore it at the weekend.

They do it in white on that website too.

In actual fact they have another maxi on the yumi site in the same material, but with dfferent sleeves that I quite like too.

daimbardiva · 19/04/2011 21:35

I love that - v good value too. Tempted to buy one myself...however I'm almost 6 foot and it might not be so maxi on me..

vintageteacups · 19/04/2011 21:49

might order it and a different colour tomorrow then.

I did think it was very cheap - wondered whether the material was a bit thin so may show lumps and bumps! Oh well - will try it.

I quite like the Yumi dress Vintage Smile.

Just a suggestion, but I bought this last summer and really liked it. I am a similar size and shape to you I think. It is quite a slinky silky sort of fabric which hangs well.

vintageteacups · 19/04/2011 22:18

Thank you bendy bob - that's nice. Not sure that it would enhance my disappearing boobs though Wink. 39 combined months of breastfeeding hasn't done wonders for my now pancake-like- breasts!!!

Love the pattern and bold colour though. I think that would suit me mroe than the black version that moonmother suggested. Black is quite harsh on my very pale skin.

I ordered this one in the end

Will wear it with pretty little cardi I think.

I ordered the one you originally posted! Will let you know what it's like - does seem too good to be true at that price, but we'll see...

vintageteacups · 20/04/2011 11:50

cool - let me know what it looks like Smile and I might order that as well.

So the maxi dress arrived - and I'm really pleased with it! For the price, it's great. The colours are maybe not quite as vibrant as I expected, but still nice, the fit is good and best of all it is truly maxi - I am 5'11" and it is actually floor length on me, which is fab. All other maxis I've tried on have flapped annoyingly round my ankles!

I ordered a large - I usually wear a 12 but am pregnant and will be 6mo by the time the wedding I want to wear this to comes round.

how did your dress turn out vintage?

vintageteacups · 28/04/2011 20:57

It's great thanks daimbardiva except that due to saggy, tiny breasts, and the the criss cross back, my chest looks like it needs a bit of oomph so need to find suitable push up strapless bra before I wear it to the wedding.

Also hate my bare arms so will see if I can get a silky teal cardi I think.

Glad the Yumi one was okay for you - it would have been way too long on me then - I'm 5ft 5" so would have been trailing behind me!
