shaved head (seriously)

i met a lady with a shaved head (not bald, like a really really close crop) and it looked really nice, would it be mad to do this? she had done it because her hair had been over bleached and was snapping. my reason would be because i cant be arsed to do my hair anymore and to me it looked really nice. am i crackers?? she did wear eye make up and i realise that this would be essential as i am pale and my eyes disappear without make up. i dont have a picture of me, but i am 40. fair and slimmish. small head :)

it isn't really a good look for anyone but the v. beautiful. i worked with a woman who did it because she really didn't care about being attractive. it worked for her. her husband gave her a no. 2 regularly

How short is your hair now? Go for a short crop rather than a shaved head. If you do that you can just wash it and then when it is dry put a toot of wax in it to style it a little - will seriously take you 1 min to do in the morning if that.

napoleona · 19/04/2011 09:22

would you never do it again though Reality? i think you do need a pretty face to pull it off? and im not that pretty and im getting on a bit, without make up i would look like a bloke. I am kind of tomboyish i suppose, but i do wear dresses :) i just cannot be bothered to do my hair anymore. cut it last year from long to short layered bob. now it just gets on my nerves. i suppose the time i save on doing my hair i could slap on loads of make up :)

and i know its because of a terrible reason, but i love sally webster's new hair in corrie! but she has a pretty oval face, i have a 'strong' jawline and pointy nose.

so maybe a short crop, but i dread the hairdresser misinterpreting me and giving me one of those mumsy short cuts / a spiky 80's job. thats why i was going to clipper it all off myself :)

omg DON'T do it!!!

i can't imagine it looking good on anyone, not even a supermodel type, sorry :(

do you have straight and reasonably thick hair, if so why not go for something like <a class="break-all" href="http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl=www.hairact.co.uk/news/wp-content/uploads/2010/03/posh-hair.jpg&imgrefurl=www.hairact.co.uk/news/fashion-icon-victoria-beckham&h=345&w=303&sz=13&tbnid=oHCkQUVtvJv8xM:&tbnh=120&tbnw=105&prev=/search%3Fq%3Dvictoria%2Bbeckham%2Bshort%2Bhair%26tbm%3Disch%26tbo%3Du&zoom=1&q=victoria+beckham+short+hair&hl=en&usg=__ozFaCO2qGdTQSEQKT4zUiftco2M=&sa=X&ei=1VStTb3LN4iwhAel7vS0DA&ved=0CBwQ9QEwAQ" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">this

i am currently growing out this style but while i had it it was soooo easy.

napoleona · 19/04/2011 10:40

haha im not going to do it (yet) im still thinking! my hair is fine but is straight. honest tho it looked good on the woman i saw and she is over 40 and bout size 16-18. perhaps i will just stick to a (boring) ponytail!

superv1xen · 19/04/2011 10:52

napoleona · 19/04/2011 19:32

I had a very very close crop for about three years, from about 33-36. It was great, but as I put on weight with DS3 and didn't lose it for ages I realised I was starting to look a bit butch. Confused It is the most fab hairstyle ever - but only for people who can carry it off.

I once said to my hairdresser - Ph, shall we be really brave and go even shorter? Like practically shaved? And she said 'Not unless you want to look like you've had a brain operation'.

And she was right. Sinead O'Connor I am not.

FellatioNels0n · 19/04/2011 20:06

Sorry about the random Ph.

Grumpla · 19/04/2011 20:14

I just shaved mine. Well not quite, about 1-2cm all over though.
It does make life a lot easier.

I spend the time I used to spend fiddling with my hair on doing my makeup every day now though! Feel a bit bleurgh without it (nowhere to hide) so always wear mascara & eyeshadow & blusher.

I love having short hair although I suspect I will get bored eventually and grow it out again. Do it! It will always grow back again!

stinkypinky · 19/04/2011 20:21

I shaved my head (no.2) at 30, and kept it for 3 years. I was not well, and my hair was falling out. I was also a size 8, tongue pierced, big boots, tats, short skirts etc - so looked and felt fab. Grew my hair back as I could only attract women. I am 41 now, married with 2 kids, size 18 and would love to do it again, but could not get away with it now... am trying to shed the flab - fancy dying it pink next time. Make up is essential too.

I remember folk would just rub my head, even strangers. Also I had several men say 'ooh, the hair on your head must be shorter than your pubes' to which I would say 'well, actually...' and smile sweetly.

stinkypinky · 19/04/2011 20:22

The first few weeks of growing it out I resembled a toilet brush
