Hair fuck up.

geordieminx · 18/04/2011 22:17

Been one of those days, culminating in hair disaster 3 days before holidays, have tonsilitus and 10000000 things to do.

Hair is naturally mid/dark brown. Up until 6 months ago used to put a brown/red colour on, fab, no problems. Until I got bored and accidentally dyed it black. Looked ok so continued with it, only looking at pics I realise that its too dark and makes me look pale.

So I --stupidly- buy a red/browm colour and whack it on tonight.

Problem. It has only taken to roots...surprise surprise. So I have red roots and black hair...I look like a circus freakoid.

Will hairdressers be able to fix?

Hair is getting very dry and damaged. Need to stop with the colouring Sad

As it is just the roots, I would think they would be able to do some kind of patch up job on the roots to make the colour more in line with the rest of your hair. You will probbably have to go/ stay darker though (for a bit anyway, until it fades.) As you will be going darker it shouldn't affect the condition - no bleach etc...?

OmShantiEasterBunny · 18/04/2011 22:32

Oh fuck :o

Sorry :o

That reminds me of the time I was in my teens and used henna red on my then-blonde hair.

It turned pink.

Nothing would take out the colour.
I had blonde roots and pink hair for most of the summer.

It was faaaaaaaaaaaab :o

OmShantiEasterBunny · 18/04/2011 22:32

Ermm, sorry. Yes, time to go to the hairdressers.

OmShantiEasterBunny · 18/04/2011 22:33

Wine?

dexter73 · 18/04/2011 22:34

Might be worth trying this stuff?

geordieminx · 18/04/2011 22:38

Would love wine if I wasn't dosed up to the fecking eyeballs with anti biotics

Really haven't got tine to be sitting ib hairdressers tomorrow but needs must, and I have a feeling that if I try and fix it myself it will just get worse. Hmm

Would ideally like to be coppery brown again bur I can't see that happening.

Just use a dark brown semi over the top .

geordieminx · 18/04/2011 22:49

The ends are almost black though

OP posts:
MrsSeanBean · 18/04/2011 22:59

geordie, don't try to fix it yourself, you're right, it probably would get worse (sorry) and will be more complicated for a hairdresser to sort out. Get yourself to a salon.

brimfull · 18/04/2011 23:02

ggirl here;that colour b4 stuff dexter linked to is amazing stuff
I used ot when I accidently dyed mine black and was very pleased witht the result

geordieminx · 18/04/2011 23:09

Am tempted by the colour b4 stuff, although I am guessing it doesn't work on everyones hair, but tbh, by the time I trail into town, do it, then possibly have to put another colour on top to even it out I am as well going to hairdressers.

Am lacking in time, skill and patience, and most importantly I do not want to look a Twat on holiday

OP posts:
MrsSeanBean · 18/04/2011 23:10

Colour b4 stff sounds tempting - but would it be very harsh on your hair?

brimfull · 18/04/2011 23:11

when I used it it left me with a lovely chestnut brown colour even though my natural colour is dark brown. I loveed it.
It takes a good 30 minutes of sitting under the shower rinsing it out.
I would recommend it .

brimfull · 18/04/2011 23:12

there are loads of reviews of it

geordieminx · 18/04/2011 23:14

Probably. And although there are some great reviews, there is also some shocking ones. It takes over an hour to do and smells like a bankok sewer.... Nice eh?

Hairdresser tomorrow.

If she can't do it before I go away will try hair b4. will also buy hat. just incase like Grin

geordieminx · 19/04/2011 11:48

Right, hairdresser couldn't fit me in until tomorrow... I spoke to her, her last words were "don't do anything else to it"

With that in mind...I have bought hair b4 stuff and am about to start...

Wish me luck

Poor you.....

Suggestions: Join a circus.

Or visit a decent hairdresser and GET IT DONE PROPERLY. Yes, the most expensive option but, colouring your hair is tricky (as you've found) and it's the one thing you wear every day so, spend as much as you can correcting it.

Have a great holiday!

geordieminx · 19/04/2011 12:43

Hair corrector is on.....

If all else fails, have appointment tomorrow.

My hair is fucking Ginger

OP posts:
ClaireDeLoon · 19/04/2011 14:09

Ginger can look nice! Does it?

geordieminx · 19/04/2011 15:22

The roots are Ginger the rest is brown. Have semi perm to stick on...

OP posts:
miche8 · 19/04/2011 15:47

the b4 stuff is great and as you have found out it leaves you ginger, just put a mid brown hair dye over the top, i always find the dyes come out much darker than on the box and i have dark hair anyway. That john frieda foam was very good, no mess and i didn't feel it faded quickly like some brands.

alfiemama · 19/04/2011 16:36

I used this, after a (ahem) fuck up and mine went bright ginger/orange/yellow. I put a toner on Medium Blonde, nice and easy (ash shade) and it has gone a lovely colour. It will go darker than it normally would though.

TheEasterBunnyDoesYoga · 19/04/2011 19:25

Oh fuckity fuckity fuck... you are keeping the hair appointment, yes?

geordieminx · 19/04/2011 21:37

I'm back

((((swishes hair)))))))

Did the nursery run, and friend and key worker both said it looked really nice, and not as noticable as I thought (both would tell truth)

Came home and had another look, and wasn't happy with having completely different colour hair at the top to bottom so stuck on a nice and easy semi perm, if mid brown...

And it looks fab!

3 hair colours in 24 hours but it's all good. Cost less than £20 which is no bad, and I have decided I'm not going to use permanent colour again. Too harsh.
