OP posts:
MayorNaze · 18/04/2011 20:26

go to dollydagger.com

or .co.uk

one or the other

LOADS of groovy stuff :)

TethersEnd · 18/04/2011 20:27

Right. Size, colouring and budget please Smile

Is this an evening or a daytime do?

JackieNo · 18/04/2011 20:30

If it's daytime and you don't have big norks, \link{http://www.oasis-stores.com/Bow-Print-Tie-Back-Dress/Dresses/oasis/fcp-product/3770019300\this is cute}. Or \link{http://www.oasis-stores.com/Floral-Tea-Dress/Dresses/oasis/fcp-product/4470082360\this too}, if you have more in the nork department.

TethersEnd · 18/04/2011 20:32

This is a bargain- wear with gloves and hat.

Likeaninjanow · 18/04/2011 20:32

Non existent norks! Budget is approximate £80. So, quite pitiful. In a rush but will be back in a bit.

Rebeccaruby · 18/04/2011 20:34

Well, I would imagine it meant floral tea dresses or cocktail dresses, like you might have in the twenties, but it seems a slightly strange idea. Why limit the event to people who can be bothered with a rather obscure theme?

TethersEnd · 18/04/2011 20:38

Vintage is your best bet IMO.

What size are you?

TethersEnd · 18/04/2011 20:41

More daytime

JackieNo · 18/04/2011 20:42

\link{http://www.debenhams.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/prod_10001_10001_037010430445_-1?breadcrumb=Home%7EWomen%7EDresses\This is cute}, if you have the legs for it, but more 70s than a tea dress.

ColonelBrandonsBiggestGroupie · 18/04/2011 20:45

Not seen you on here for ages, JackieNo. You used to be the absolute superstar of dress links. :)

I see that you're still pushing the Warehouse fifties dress, Tethers - it's lovely.

I agree that slightly vintage-esque would be perfect.

TethersEnd · 18/04/2011 20:46

over budget but gorgeous

TethersEnd · 18/04/2011 20:48

I think that Warehouse dress is an absolute steal. Wish it would suit me.

JackieNo · 18/04/2011 20:49

I love that champagne coloured vintage ebay one - gorgeous!

Hi ColonelB Smile.

bibbitybobbityhat · 18/04/2011 20:51

(Just as an aside, honestly think I'd rather stick pins in my eyes than go to a charity "cupcakes and cocktails" event - since when did these two go together??? - and be told that I have to dress in "spring vintage". Have rarely heard of such poncery. Where do you live op?)

TethersEnd · 18/04/2011 20:53

agree bibbity... yy to cocktails but no thanks to cupcakes.

Although yy to drinking too much and chundering over the cupcakes in a pretty dress Smile

TheHouseofMirth · 18/04/2011 20:56

about this? orthis one?

EvilTwins · 18/04/2011 21:00

Cupcakes, Cocktails and Kidston?

Certainly hits the "vintage" bit, but I always worry I'll look like someone who's popped out of an am dram rehearsal of something set in WW2...

theghostofposhlymanor · 18/04/2011 21:06

I'm with bibbity on this one.

Plus spring vintage can mean literally anything, as long as it's older than about 5 years and you could conceivably wear in spring. So a shell suit, jeans, trainers, a nice frock, cloth sacking or even caveman furs...

goingmadinthecountry · 18/04/2011 21:25

Saw a lovely dress in my Phase 8 outlet shop today - would have bought it if I had the right event! Was pink and green so a bit limiting, but ideal for the brief.

TrillianAstra · 18/04/2011 21:44

Agree that this is massive poncery, but it could be enjoyable.

I would wear this again

or this silk one is nice and still within budget

JackieNo · 18/04/2011 21:49

Sorry...had a friend round to raid my wardrobe! Managed to find the perfect flowery tea dress and faux fur 3/4 sleeve jacket. Looks convincingly vintage.

Other friends are still looking for ideas though, so am going to share your links.

Love, the Warehouse Daisy dress, and the Cath Kidson are totally what I had in my head when I heard the theme.

Tethersend, yes a bit over budget but GORGEOUS!

I can't believe the response this got Smile. I agree it is totally poncetastic, but I think it will be a fun day out. Going with an amazing bunch of friends, so can't fail really.
