Strange facial hair am I the only one? Advice also please

I must have the most strangest facial hair. It is course blonde/white at the start and then turns fine and dark at the ends (with exception to a few which are course & completely dark).

I also have long hair on my neck Blush. It is fine and blonde, but have had to pluck a few recently due to some appearing dark so am now going to have to deal with this aswell Sad.

So what do I do about it? If I pluck it will come back completely black and be more noticable. Do I snip off the black ends which makes it look bristly?

I did think about buying that boots IPL hair remover, but not sure if that would work.

Hi, I am no means an expert but I would try permanent laser removal as it works well on smaller "problem" areas and is a hair by hair zap. Not the cheapest solution but probably the best - sounds like a real hassle and probably quite annoying/upsetting for you.

I meant the hairs sound like a hassle, not the laser!

Thanks Emo, yes very upsetting & annoying! This time of year a nightmare as can't cover up with scarfs and the bright daylight seems to make it more noticable.
Does laser removal work on blonde hair?

Laser doesn't work on blonde hair. I'm having it done at the moment and after 3 sessions i'm seeing good results.

What about electrolysis? That works on blonde hair but takes longer.

sillytart · 18/04/2011 23:17

Does electrolysis have a good success rate? Think that may be theoption for the blonde hair.

What do you do with your hair between laser treaments, can you still pluck or do you have to leave it? Also does the hair have to be a certain length for them to do it?

I have strange facial hair but different to you. Over the last year I've developed 3 small red lumps on my cheek, almost like little sebaceous cysts. And I get a horrible course, black hair growing out the middle of each lump. The hair seems to take ages breaking through the skin and irritates the lump. I tweezer them out as soon as I can and that often breaks the skin, irritates the lumps more so my face looks awful all the time. Sad

I have quite a few random (long) hairs on my face & neck. The are blonde at the root (or even maybe grey) and then black at the end, which means I don't notice them until they are 2" long (not really) - I tend to just pluck them to be honest. I do shape my own eyebrows, and I usually just scan my face / neck at the same time.

I think it is just my age

sillytart · 19/04/2011 19:20

Northumberlandlass they sound like mine. How old are you? If it makes you feel any better I am 33. Started to get them after I had DC1 and then they got much worse after DC2.

Sorry, Sillytart - just catching up !

I'm 38, but had these hairs since my early 30's. I have a line of hair down my tummy too, which was there before DS. I get that waxed when I get my bikini line done..

It's odd though because I'm not a particularly hairy person, just hair grows in odd places.

Don't bother with home electrolysis. Didn't work at all for me. I use hair removal creams. Not ideal and your red for a bit so do it at night before bed.
It sounds like facial hair bleaching cream could be a good alternative if all you need is to get rid of the dark part of the hair.
Yes laser only works if the hair is dark.
