Hot summer wardrobe.. need help

MickyLee · 17/04/2011 11:37

I am going back to the UK next week (live in Turkey) and I have to buy my summer wardrobe.

TBH I have no idea about the latest trends as I am here so I really need some help.

I need clothes that are cool in very hot weather, practical as I walk everywhere and have two small DC.

I need clothes that are young enough to make me look in trend but not so young I look like I am trying too hard. I need at least 2 outfits that I can visit covered muslim family, so not low cut and sleeves (although not long) and legs covered. Maybe 3 outfits for day to day, park, lunch out etc. DOn't need any evening clothes as have a few from last summer.

I am short (5 ft) and size 8. Apple shape but also TTC so need clothes tht will be suitable for an early baby bump (hopefully)

I am only over for a short time and will only manage 1 shopping trip so need your help of what to look for beforehand. Any ideas?

I think navy linen trousers with stripy breton top looks nice and is cool.

Long black linen skirt with variety of tops

Accessories are the key. Necklaces, earrings, hair accessories, different shoes

Long tunics with leggings look good too.

Will find some links........

Sorry - am confused. Do you want clothes to wear in the UK or in Turkey?

The White Company have some really lovely dresses at the mo, including maxis (but they'd probably be too long for you). Some lovely jersey dresses that would be great for early pregnancy too - you'd need a little short sleeved cardigan (tiny cotton ones in M&S for about 12 quid) to cover the top of your arms.

DP top

nice with leggings and modest

MickyLee · 17/04/2011 16:37

Sorry to confuse you colonel I need clothes to wear in Turkey.
Will have a look at The White Company. I don't mind having things taken up.

bumbags All of those links are great for popping over to inlaws place in. Not so keen on the colour of the last link but gives me an idea.

It is so hard coming back and having only one visit to the highstreet.

I am very easily confused!

Personally, the last thing I'd want to wear in the heat is leggings - I don't think they'd feel at all comfortable.

How old are you? M&S had a couple of cute cotton dresses (again would need a little cardigan over) and again v decently priced - but you maynot be an oldie like me!

Bumbags · 17/04/2011 17:12

She is 30 Colonel.

Are you allowed to wear shorts and short skirts then?

Will find more links.

Bumbags · 17/04/2011 17:15

new look skirt

cute floral skirt

belted shorts

skort

Meggles76 · 17/04/2011 17:29

I am a similar height and size to you although am pear shape.
I think the following might work for you:
Next petite linen trousers in navy
Next petite floral dress
Kew red stripe breton top
Kew stripe T-shirt
Monsoon white cardigan

MickyLee · 17/04/2011 20:17

Thank you all so much. I love all the floral. Not so into the short floaty skirts (bit worried about playing on the park and bending over picking up DC)

Going to visit Next now after half the links were from there. Going to try on those linen trousers and love the belted shorts and the floral dress.
