I have a pink raincoat from Boden that I bought last year. It was from their summer range though so it's not as waterproof as cod's example, just 'shower proof'. It's quite nice and has a lovely stripey fleece lining. I feel a bit of a twit when I wear it though as I also have pink wellies - think I look like an over co-ordinated 6 year old.
Much prefer using an umbrella. Can just about manage with buggy if I use the 3 wheeler as I can (just) push it with one hand. Pain though when I get to road and have to hold ds's hand.

I HATE brollies. They're the Devil's work, especially when it's blowy like it is up here often.

I wear a mac w/a hat and scarf and my wellies.

gingerbear · 02/11/2005 16:10

hawkeshead is good place to look, but how do Londoners maintain cool chic image in hiking gear or ski-wear?

Puff has a dilema.

bakedplotato · 02/11/2005 16:10

I still remember that first winter with a buggy when it dawned on me that umbrellas and hoodless coats are no good. Before you know it you're shelling out for a binbagalike from North Face.
This is another thing you're not told before you have kids.

NomDePlume · 02/11/2005 16:11

A trench coat !!!

No idea what to do re keeping your hair dry. Either drive, wear a hat, wear a hood or use a brolly.

bundle · 02/11/2005 16:11

bp, had similar revelation when i became a radio reporter - you can't use a brolly and wield a microphone!

gingerbear · 02/11/2005 16:11

I need a coat with a hood.

And I don't want to look really sad.

And I don't want to spend lots of money.

NomDePlume · 02/11/2005 16:18

there is such a thing as a chic raincoat BUT they just don't have hoods.

JanH · 02/11/2005 16:19

I've got a proper old woman's raincoat - sort of dusty navy colour and about 3 sizes too big so the sleeves are long enough and I can wear a nice warm wooly underneath. Looks divine. Luckily now I am so old I am invisible anyway

When I was 19 and thin I had an ankle-length red rubberised cotton sort of riding mac thing from Harrods - can't remember the make but it was dead cool in 1970.

like the pink boden one (sale obviously) but it's a case of waterproof v breathable these days, no?

nailpolish · 02/11/2005 16:41
