My daughter is getting married on Nov 5th, just a small do, registry wedding at 12.00, followed by meal for immediate family and then a big party for friends in the evening.

Wedding plans all coming along very nicely.

However i am really starting to panic about what i will be wearing. I don't want to look frumpy but i'm probably not the most elegant of people. Mostly live in jeans etc. I prefer dresses to skirts and tops and am totally hopeless in heels.

Where do i start looking? I'm 5 foot 5" and a size 14, late forties, ok very late forties (49 by the time of the wedding)

Please can someone recommend some good sites for me to start with Confused

What's your budget? Any body parts you want to hide/show off?

How about this?

this?

this?

this?

this?

Don't be afraid to say if you hate them- tell me why and I'll look again Smile

lemonbeaver · 15/04/2011 15:08

Thanks Tethersegg,

OK not keen on any of them if honest Blush maybe the fringe one but don't think it will suit me. The pink one is probably my favorite.

I hate my stomach and bum mostly, although the rest of me isn't much better.

Can't say why not keen apart from maybe none have a 'wow' element to them, maybe i'm thinking of something a little different without being too out there.

Maybe if i describe my colouring it may help, i have light brown hair, hazel eyes and tend to tan quite easily, although by nov any tan will have disappeared.

Please look again for me, i promise you a nice slice of cake and glass of Wine for your trouble

Do you fancy something a bit more glam?

Make it a G&T and I'll be back in a minute...

Meanwhile, how about this?

lemonbeaver · 15/04/2011 15:22

I think that dress is fab- so do lots of other people, it's a big seller and has gone out of stock online twice, so phone the Cambridge branch and check it's in stock.

Teths has picked out some fab ones there (some monsters as well to be fair - that VW one, WTF was she thinking? Confused)

The nicest so far was the taupe phase 8 one for me, however if you like the GB one, which is also lovely, that would look fab with deep aubergine/purple suede shoes with a slight platform, clutch bag, a chunky statement bangle and a fake fur shawl/shrug.

lemonbeaver · 15/04/2011 17:20

Keep coming up with all these great ideas

I really want to make my daughter proud, really must go have to pick up youngest DD

Haha, I knew someone would have that reaction to the VW one Grin- should've known it would be you, Fellatio. I LOVE that one. I accept that it is an acquired taste though.

I honestly think the phase eight one is the best value, but I have in my head a dress that I think would be perfect, but can't find anything like it anywhere. I think it doesn't exist. I like the Alexander Wang one the best. I think... Or the Phase eight. I've confused myself now.

tethersegg · 15/04/2011 17:45

Reiss again

Issa and again

FellatioNels0n · 15/04/2011 17:50

Grin I had to go back to have another look just to make sure I wasn't being a crusty old fart and I hate it even more the second time! It just looks cheap, badly cut and unflattering. Like a homemade Shepherd's costume for the nativity. The back is a complete dog's dinner.

tethersegg · 15/04/2011 17:55

Nativity shepherds will be big next season, it's the look for AW2011 Wink

FellatioNels0n · 15/04/2011 18:04

I keep cominb back to that beautiful oyster/taupe Phase Eight one (Verity) it is divine - I can't link to anything nicer than that! Do you feel more comfortable in a classic waisted shape lemon or are the asymmetrical drapey things doing it for you?

FellatioNels0n · 15/04/2011 18:17

this is pretty, in the silver colourway.

It will be November though - do we need to be thinking sleeves or jackets?

FellatioNels0n · 15/04/2011 18:24

I likey this very much

FellatioNels0n · 15/04/2011 18:25

No, I meant this

FellatioNels0n · 15/04/2011 18:26

Bugger. Hang on.
