Have a look

Was it worth it and do you reckon it's definitely vintage?

link doesn't work....did you win it?

TragicallyHip · 15/04/2011 09:45

Does it go to ebay? If so scroll down. It works for me.

Yep won it!

that is lovely, i really like it. i have no real advice but i admire your taste Grin.

purplerabbitofinle · 15/04/2011 09:59

My mum's got the pattern for it somewhere, if you want another one Wink

Not my taste but a good buy if you'll enjoy wearing it

TragicallyHip · 15/04/2011 10:01

Ooh thanks! Grin

I have a few vintage things but this looks too new iyswim. They have sold quite a bit so I guess it's all authentic!

Haha thanks I'll keep that in mind purplerabbitofinle

Hahaha . . . I do this too. I have an auction coming up in a couple of days . . . shhh. Styling dress, btw. Love the velvet belt!

leavesleaves · 15/04/2011 12:24

PS Bear in mind that many vintage items are home-sewn (I'm sure you know that anyway.) This dress could easily be, say, a bridesmaid's dress from a seventies wedding, made for and worn on that one occasion.

Whether it's vintage or not it's fab. Isn't that what matters??

TragicallyHip · 15/04/2011 12:44

Thanks!

I really wouldn't mind it not being vintage, as you say it's fab and I love it anyway. I hadn't really thought about it not being worn much.

It's a bargain none the less and I can't wait to be swishing around in it! Grin

Cycling Christ- use a sniper!

Goofbay or Myibay bids on your behalf up to your maximum.

Looks in great condition for vintage, but US ones often are- much better vintage bargains there. Hope it fits Smile

TragicallyHip · 15/04/2011 14:14

I did think about a sniper, haven't used it before and didn't want to risk it not working. Plus Dh wasn't too keen on the idea. How safe is it in regards to having to pass on your Ebay details etc?

I hope it fits too! I think it might be a bit too big if anything. I will definitely be looking at American vintage more!

I have been using Myibay for years with no problems. I buy a LOT of vintage tat stuff and haven't lost yet.

Try it on something small that you're not that bothered about to reassure you.

Never had a problem with security.

TragicallyHip · 15/04/2011 14:29

Brilliant thanks, I will check it out.

It's just going to make it easier to spend loads of money isn't it? Grin

OP posts:
tethersegg · 15/04/2011 14:30

Yes. I'm afraid it is Grin

Eddas · 15/04/2011 14:47

Grin i wouldn't set an alarm but I now use a sniper for most ebay bidding. It's called goofbay. It keeps me from bidding more than I want to because of getting over excited at the last minute Grin

TragicallyHip · 15/04/2011 14:47

I can live with that Grin

OP posts:
TragicallyHip · 15/04/2011 14:50

I had a brief look at goofbay. I'm normally quite good and will only bid what I want to pay and not go over. But I do wait till 20 seconds to go and if my bid isn't high enough then I don't have time to put another one in.

OP posts:
tethersegg · 15/04/2011 15:12

Goofbay and Myibay will bid on your behalf in the last few seconds. Make your maximum bid an odd number like £37.96 to make sure those with a round number maximum bid (eg £35) don't get it.

I always add at least a tenner to my maximum- if you know what the item will go for, it works. If an item is on for £3.99 I might put a maximum of £22.80 to ensure that I get it for £7.50 IYSWIM...

FellatioNels0n · 15/04/2011 17:38

I think that's really cute. I couldn't wear it now but it is the kind of thing I would choose if I was 15 years younger.

TragicallyHip · 27/04/2011 11:43

Thanks Fellatio [csmile]

Just received the dress and I LOVE it [cgrin]

It's a tad too big but you can't really tell when the sash is on, and the shoulder straps a little too wide so might need that taken in.

Can't wait to wear it!

FellatioNels0n · 27/04/2011 15:44

You see, people? A happy customer! Stoma my arse. Wink

FellatioNels0n · 27/04/2011 15:46

Oh. Ignore that last post. I'm getting my dresses and threads mixed up!

TragicallyHip · 27/04/2011 16:55

Ok Grin
