Help - I have 10 nights out in 29 days. I really don't do going out!

I have 'office' clothes - 3 pairs black pants, one is pinstripe, a couple of shirts, t shirts and cardigans.

I have 'standing on the touchlines watching my son play rugby' clothes - jeans that are past their best, jumpers etc.

I have 'summer camping' clothes

I bought a 'going out' outfit last summer as I was invited to two 50ths and thankfully none of the same people would be at both which was a pair of white trousers and a chiffony top which was various shades of blue/grey. I also got a pair of black leggings and a very long grey silk shirt for going to a party at Christmas.

I can't afford to buy clothes that I'm not going to get a lot of wear out of, so hopefully I will get things that I can use for work afterwards - yes I know - boring.

So kicking off from the 30th April I have:-

Engagement party - Friends A
Christening - Friends B
My brithday - family
18th Party - Friends A
Concert - me and DH
Rugby Presentation Night - Friends C
Engagement Party - Friends B
Ds1's 18th Birthday meal - family
Ds1's 18th Birthday Party - all of the above!
28th May - the last one - 18th Birthday Party - Friends A.

This is more than I will go out in the next three years.

Do you have any suggestions for a few pieces that I can buy that will make my wardroble look as if it is endless?

thanks

I'd also be tempted to get stuff that you can wear for everyday afterwards. I have just bought a couple of jersey maxis which I will wear on holiday/nights out but can also wear with denim jacket/flats for everyday in summer or with a blazer for work.

What shape/size are you and what colours suit you? How you got a budget in mind? Are you looking for shoes/accessories too. I'd definitely be looking for at least three complete outfits with that schedule.

I'd go for something like an Isabella Oliver jersey dress, great shoes and some evening accesorries. Dress in a colour I would be happy to wear to work. Couple of cardies to ring the changes.

And a nice pair of PJs for when it's all over!

I'd buy 2 dresses, one quite formal for engagement party , christening and DS birthday meal (possible also rugby thing?). then another not quite so formal dress that you could wear with your black leggings you already have, you could wear this to DS party and your birthday/concert night out.

Id then buy another nice top you can wear with your white trousers, then you can wear them twice too.

You better write down what you wear when.....

I'd definitely go for tops.

You could wear them with your work trousers later, and the black leggings and white trousers to go out,

I'd also get some beads, necklaces from prim ark to accessorise and make the looks different,

Black and white go with anything so pick maybe 3 plainish tops different colours and use the beads to mix it up a bit

Basically create a capsule wardrobe using your bottoms as starters.

If you tell me your age and colouring, size, rough budget I maybe able to suggest some things

lilibet · 19/04/2011 12:38

Sorry I haven't been back, I checked on this at the time and no one had answered so I left it.

I'm 5'5, 14 - 16, will be 48 in the midst of all this, I'm a redhead and probably hve not more than £100 to spend.

Your budget is quite tight so I'd suggest you have a look at Peacocks (dont laugh!!)

love this dress

so pretty too

to go with your white trousers?

All for under £100, they aer doing free express delivery if you spend over £40 too

Hello,

I'd choose tops and accessories in natural, earth tones such as dark and olive greens, beiges, browns, golds, camel and even orangey reds. I think Purple, bright red, navy and pinks are probably "no's" for your colouring.

You could quite easily get 4 tops and a few accesories if you shopped in the right places :)

PS I'm aware I ignored my colour suggestions sometimes - I'm a work so hard to search about, but thought the shapes would look nice with trousers Smile
