Hi ladies,

I need to have both hands free to take both DDs and all their stuff to nursery in the morning... A packpack/rucksack would be perfect but they're all so bleedin' ugly...

There's only one I've found that I like ? this one :

www.orlakiely.com/uk.cfm/bags/ss11%20mainline/11SB-SPL031/15888/_/

It's beautiful and perfect but I cannot justify spending £388 on a BAG... [shck]

Have you seen any that are both stylish and practical?

I'd really appreciate all your help ? I'm beginning to think such a thing doesn't exist...

Thanks!!

Haven't a clue, and don't like Orla Kiely, but on the lookout for a good medium sized leather rucksack so bookmarking Wink

I was sure I wouldn't be the only one! That particular Orla isn't very typically her (no print)... But lovely colours... [sigh]

Ooh, that's lovely! But, no, not justifiable.

Would a cross-body bag work? It would mean you could get stuff out of it too...

There's some here

designerbaby · 13/04/2011 23:06

I suppose so - but always feel slightly strangled by cross body bags...

Some of those are nice, but I wish they came in some other colours!!
I think I see a gap in the market...

Found this - whaddya think? Unusual?

www.handbagsandgladrags.co.uk/acatalog/info_hwbfkred.html

Still a bit £££ though...

Hmmm. Wish you hadn't shown me that Orla Kiely one.

Do you think it would hold a laptop?

designerbaby · 13/04/2011 23:14

I know - now I've seen it I'm finding it difficult to move on...

It's 33x33... how big is your laptop?

I don't have a laptop - so that's at least £400 I HAVEN'T spent, right?

No no no... can't.

[slaps self...]

It would just fit the laptop but not all the other crap I carry around.

Just as well then.

I have had a black city-type backpack for years but its not so great for my back these days. So I bought a "proper" rucksack with waist belt and all that but it's bloody ugly and makes me look as if I am about to set off for Nepal, not central London.

So nice big but attractive backpack would be great. Especially if it didn't cost as much as Orla Kiely...

designerbaby · 13/04/2011 23:26

See, I don't need a huge one ? I don't carry a laptop to work, and rarely even carry A4 files (prefer A5 sketchbook)...

Usually have a massive tome for tube reading though...

I just want something a bit bright and stylish.

Who am I kidding. I want the Orla Kiely. But I can't have it.

Wail...

waaaaah

Katisha · 13/04/2011 23:51

See what you mean about the colour. And the straps look a bit flimsy for the sort of weight I carry about.
Any good for you db?

designerbaby · 13/04/2011 23:57

See - like the styling - nice size too.
But shame about the fact it's white...

How about this out of left field:

cgi.ebay.co.uk/New-JAPANESE-LEATHER-BACKPACK-RANDOSERU-Made-in-Japan_W0QQitemZ260752810786QQcategoryZ3142QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp4340.m263QQ_trkparmsZalgo%3DSIC%26its%3DI%252BC%26itu%3DUCI%252BIA%252BUA%252BIEW%252BFICS%252BUFI%26otn%3D15%26pmod%3D260478106464%26ps%3D63%26clkid%3D8435503746245031512

It's a Japanese schoolbag, apparently...

Course I really like this version:

cgi.ebay.co.uk/JAPANESE-LEATHER-BACKPACK-RANDOSERU-YELLOW-/260478106464

but I bloody would...

Pretty cool, I thought...
