does too much colour co-ordination look a bit twee...?

i often colour co-ordinate accesories and wonder if it can look a bit over the top.

today for work I have navy dress and cardigan on, navy court shoes and then purply/ burgundyish tights and a scarf in the same colour...

just wonder if it looks a bit twee and I would be better going for say a patterned scarf that picks up the colour of say both the dress and the tights....

i am probably way over thinking this Smile

Yes, it often does...colours should go together but not match IMO.

Clothes that look as if you bought them in one fell swoop, in fact bought the entire outfit off the manequin, equals bad.

Clothes that look as if you sourced them and then made an effort to style them together in your own unique, inimitable way equals good. Remember that half of fashion is purely swagger and blaggery - don't worry too much what others think. Confidence is the sexiest thing going!

BTW block colours are so fashionable at the moment. See: it all depends on how you sell it.Grin

It can be a bit too 'Queen Mum' especially if you have the bag and shoes matchy match going on. If you think it;s too coordinated....it probably is.

whoneedssleepanyway · 13/04/2011 12:40

the thing is I don't intentionally buy things that match but I end up with things that all go together because I am drawn to particular colours (greys, plums, navies...).

so e.g. today I bought the tights and the scarf independently and not intended them to go together, the arenot exact exact colour match but v similar (same tone one maybe a little lighter), but when i had navy dress shoes and cardigan on with the plum tights i thought i needed something else to bring the tights in if you know what i mean.

aghhhhhhhhhhh queen mum was def not the look i was going for.

I knew someone who coordinated her watch fgs

coordinating underwear on the other hand is non-negotiable. I could not under any circumstances where a nude bra with black pants. I would feel dirty all day Grin
