Don't worry-not expecting a myriad of answers as know majority of us don't really do Xmas do's but hey, bear with me and tell me what dress you would buy if you were going to or are going to this year?

I've just, rather optimistically, bought a gold number with black crochet over it, as have a couple of do's this year,(won't be wearing to the mumsnet do).£11.25 on ebay so if it is crap, not too much spent!

(I say optimistically,as bought a 14 when am really a 15 at the mo-have less than two weeks to get to a 14!!)

Will be wearing it with knee length, tan leather boots and some "hold me ins"!

Will be adding some gothic style black beads and "Bobs yer uncle"-sex goddess!!

Thats the plan!!!

I'm bitter... just been told that DH's work do is being held for just employees, during work time

My one dressy up night a year!!!

Dropinthe · 01/11/2005 16:49

Think I would buy all my clothes in Coast if had an ample budget-am loving Coasts' clothes!

Like you said DIT, don't do Christmas do's. I am slightly ashamed to admit that I told dh to turn down an invite he had for a work's Christmas do because I had nothing to wear (or a babysitter, but I didn't give that as my excuse).

I am sure you will look lovely! But remember, it is the going out that counts, not what you look like.

Dropinthe · 01/11/2005 16:52

Hello,my sweet! Can you not change your mind?

BTW-AM NOT ASKING YOUR OPINIONS ON MY OUTFIT!!!!

Is that clear??

OP posts:
flamesparrow · 01/11/2005 16:53

I'm assuming the was for me, and not at me for not helping

I can't picture your dress at all though!!! Can you send us a link to the auction??

Lonelymum · 01/11/2005 16:53

No, don't want to TBH. If I were to go to the trouble of getting a babysitter and going out, I would rather do something I enjoyed!

flamesparrow · 01/11/2005 16:55

Right, back to the original thread title... if I were to go to one, I would be in a maternity type wrap around jobby I think - bump is the right shape now to be able to pull it off and not just look fat and lumpy ... With a pair of purply fishnets, and my little black shoes (I would be barefoot within about 30 mins, but look great as I entered )

JonesTheSteam · 01/11/2005 16:58

Am going to posh black tie Xmas do with DH's work this year and have purchased this from Debenhams (page will load eventually - honest!

Am in a quandry about shoes though! Silver strappy sandals I think!!!

(Haven't done a "posh" Christmas do since I was a final year student when I probably wore some hideous flowery Laura Ashley creation.

flamesparrow · 01/11/2005 16:59

Oooh fancy! Have you got a nice boobie enhancing bra too? Looks like it would lend itself to cleavage nicely.

JonesTheSteam · 01/11/2005 17:01

No!!!

Oh dear - might have to spend more of DH's money!!!

(Don't own any silver strappy sandals either )

Dropinthe · 01/11/2005 17:02

Flame-O yes,was sending you a as your only chance to dress up!

Dropinthe · 01/11/2005 17:04

Dress I've bought is empire cut with cap sleeves-gold satin underneath with black crochet over the top! Will be wearing funky boots to difuse the fact that it is relatively short(ish) and a tad on the sexy side!

I think its bloody rude, and may be forced to phone his head office and cry at them.

Since there are only actually 3 of them working in his section, I might be able to convince him that we all need to go out for dinner together, so that I can wear something pretty.

Forgot to say though - yes to silver strappies!

Lonelymum · 01/11/2005 17:06

Nice dress Jones!

JonesTheSteam · 01/11/2005 17:07

This is the first time I've ever been invited to one of Dh's Xmas do's, so know how you feel flamesparrow

Previous company - partners weren't invited.

Now am invited, but only 'cos DH made senior management team this year!

The plus side is that hotel room is also being paid for by his company - our third child-free night since DD was born nearly 5 years ago!!

JonesTheSteam · 01/11/2005 17:08

Thank you LM!!!

Might have to consume vast amounts of wine to cope with the stress of wearing a dress though - I live in trousers normally
