Does anyone know about hair dying?

My hair is dyed red atm but I really want to go blonde again. My natural hair colour is dark brown and I was blonde for a while years ago and want to go back to blonde.
Is it possible for me to do this myself - I always dye my own hair and was always ok using a pre-lightener and then a blonde dye before, but now my hair is red I'm not sure if I can do that - will it go pink or orange or some other awful colour!? lol

Cut a sample of hair from the neck area and see how that turns out.
Or buy a hat just in case

I think it would go a dodgy colour.

When I was 14, my best friend dyed her hair black, then hated it so tried to bleach it - it went patchy pink, red anf orange!! The hairdresser then had to strip all the colour from it before dying it again.

I'd go to a hairdresser first.

yeah i would wait until the red grows out.

i did it the other way round... bleached it then dyed it and my hair was the most horrible condition.
couldn't comb it, it was like straw!

Thanks everyone, think I'll go into the hairdressers and ask them about it. Definitely don't want to end up with mad pink hair! lol
